No you didn't.. your great great grandfathers kicked the crap out of mine! (I heard from the girl scouts that you personally couldn't kick the skin off a rice pudding!!)
Anyway, having an American Grandma we've always celebrated 4th July and being half Irish too, St Patricks day. I used to go out with a swede so Midusmmer was a big thing... heck.. any excuse for a party works for me!
