Worst night followed by best

So, I've been trying to find relief for my latest CH cycle of sleep induced headaches.  I  bought Kudzu on Friday only to find it was the Kuzu "washed" starch version of Kudzu root, and offered no help.  That night I continued on my 2nd night of Melatonin, and was hit was a kip 9 or 10 like clockwork about 90 minutes into my sleep.  It lasted about 90 minutes itself.  The really hard part was that the following morning I had to get up and spend all day moving my girlfried from one city to the next.  Had to load up a truck, drive it to another city and unload it... with almost no sleep, and for the first time ever, a lingering shadow that kept creeping up to a 3 or 4 and then back down.  So, last night I avoided excederin all day and night, did the 9mg of melatonin, combined with 2 benadryl, and in the evening a couple of advil and a couple asprin at bed time.  I woke up probably 5 or 6 times throughout the night expecting to have a headache, but it never hit!  I was amazed today when I awoke with now CH hit at night and no shadow.  Im still doubtful of that happening two nights in a row, but hey, we'll see.  I dont know what exactly the cure for the night was either, but maybe I can narrow that down as well.  Anyway, here's to one night anyway.

Can report a similar experience.

During one bad cycle, I decided to record the severity of each day's cluster headaches.

It seemed like on certain days, it was responding to new medications, then in a few days it would stop responding and get worse.

But then I plotted the severity vs. days in a spreadsheet and found that it was very cyclical and probably had little to do with the medications.

Bad for few days, better for few days.  It was not unusual to have the worst day followed by a day of reprieve.

Hey Slhaas great news on the shut-eye!!  I seem to think that everything about this rotten experiance gos in cycles.  I also keep a log of my hits..(131 so far this cycle.......aghhh)  It  accured to me that the "cycles" come at approx. the same time of the year, and the "hits" come at the same time of the day.  The cycles start slowly and get worse then better at the  end, and so to the CH's.  Even within a cycle, there is a cycle of better days and worse days, and in a CH, the pain seems to fluctuate a little until it finally tails off.  Anyway...............hope you sleep well again!  Tongue

I didn't have a hit last night either... so here's to two PF nights in a row.  Hoping to make it 3, but we'll see.  Im probably going to have some beer tonight watching MNF.  Although alcohol is not always a trigger for me, it is sometimes... so we'll see.  Maybe the melatonin and benadryl are doing the trick.
