CH and eczema? HUH?

This may be nuts and a stretch. It is a personal observation I have made that I cannot document 100% but it seems to feel right. I have had clusters for about 45 years, both episodic and chronic. Pain has always been on the left side. I also have eczema on the left hand, mostly on the fingers, but importantly only on this hand, not on the right one, and no where else on my body. It seems the eczema is blistering and itching when I am not having headache attacks. The eczema never goes away. During CH attacks the eczema "reverts" or "converts" to skin thickening and peeling with no blistering or itching. I am not sure this means anything but I seem to notice it more often since I began to suspect a relationship - if indeed there really is one.

Hi Snyder, Eczema too. No discernible relation to CH but an interesting thought. Will track and see if there is any connection. Regards Jon

I don't know if mine is eczema or what, my doc says it is herpes like a cold sore, only I get it on my face and nose, not my lips. They start out as red itchy spots and end up as little blisters. I get it worse when I am in cluster cycle. Probably it is all of the stress of trying to deal with doctor and getting enough of, or the right meds to help.

It's been too many years that it has happened to be entirely coincidence, I think. It may be an indirect relationship ... a system thaang, perhaps.

According to the research regarding both CH and eczema the only connections if any would be an increase in body temperature during CH that might exaserbate the eczema or that of stress which is known to increase some people's irritations. You are stating that when not in cycle it is much worse, thus that theory goes out the window. I haven't read anything about eczema that indicates it having anything to do with serotonin levels. Who knows?? Enjoy your time away from itching and sorry you are dealing with the noggin problems! E

A few minor problems creep up after a real high kip hit session and frequency that I've noticed over the years. No eczema or cold sores here but a bump in my breast and a gland under my arm, just on the side of my CH. It comes and goes according to level of of pain I've been through. Had it tested nothing serious just the bodies way of stressing after a period of intense pain.

| boomer, that sounds like shingles. Same virus as herpes just different symptoms. Stress? I think you're on the right track. Herpes, shingles attacks can be brought on by stress. Maybe eczema can too. Hell, I don't know.
