Son showing signs of CH

When my son was growing up he had migraines (as did my father and grandmother). But lately his signs are showing up more like clusters. He insists it's just sinus and won't get diagnosed. But he's restless with them - in the past he always took something and went to sleep - now he can't do that. His eye is turning red and the lid is drooping. This is something I would not have wished on anyone, much less my child. I hope I'm wrong about this, but all the signs are there. Hugs BD

How old is your son. Mine is 25, in the Coast Guard and whenever he comes home I've noticed that he has also shown signs. He says that they are just bad headaches, but almost always has them. I will give him a tylenol ex-strength, and he says they go away. I've asked him to get checked but he blames them on stress and lack of sleep. (DUH). Just FYI he is married and has a 2 month old son. CH, is not the legacy I wanted to pass on to my son, dammit!

I hope you're wrong too, BD. However, you certainly have the expertise to know the difference. Vibes to you and your son, and lots of hope that it's not CH. Jean

It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

Let's hope the gene's don't need laundering, but if he get's nailed by CH, going to the chief witch doctor shouldn't be a problem. That'd be my first choice. RJ

My prayers go out to both of you. Having CH yourself is bad enough, but to watch your child having it as well must be heartbreaking. I hope it isn't so. Wishing both of you the strength to do whatever it is that you need to do. Sandy

Well, the kid is stubborn (and he 37). I did get him to a doc today, but the wrong kind. He got a piece of metal in his eye and we had to go visit the eye doc to get it removed. He's been about 5 or 6 all day, but the kid couldn't see and was at my mercy. And the little one (4 years old) is still getting over his tonsilectomy so it's been a fun day. I've been on Mom and Granny duty. I didn't think his wife would ever get off work to come rescue me!!!!! If his headaches turn out to be CH, I may just shoot him (or me!) Oh hell, then I'd have to go find out where they sell bullets.... they've got so many new laws on buying ammunition these days. May not be worth the effort. Right now I'm gonna take my meds and try to go to sleep. I don't have Granny duty until about 6am. Keeping my fingers crossed that he's just got sinus headaches like his ENT doc says. But sinus hits both sides (or always did on me back in the good old days - pre CH!). Hugs BD

| It all depends on if you're in a hurry, or willing to see what else is in season. Quote:Right now I'm gonna take my meds and try to go to sleep. I don't have Granny duty until about 6am. | Don'tcha think, if he actually gets SLAMMED with CH, he'll be dragging YOU to a doc? And if so, there's nothing to say he'll be a filthy chronic...........he may only go PARANOID once every year or three. He's in good hands, All Stated. RJ

| Sorry to hear he gets so many headaches. The good thing is I don't think you need to worry much about the Cluster thing. Has he seen a doc ? Must be something giving him those headaches.

| Yeah, there's stress. Trying to get him to a Dr. may be another story. (I think he gets his stubborness from his mom)
