Having had clusters and delving into the darkest corners for information for a long time I had allways thought there was one allmost constant for all of us.

I allways thought that the frequency or amount of attacks per day stayed the same and timed the same for all cluster sufferers wether it be 1 hit or 12 in a 24 hr period. Thats what you had.

If I have 8-10 attacks in a day it has allways stayed the same throughout my 30 years of cycling.
The intensity never changes except when I was medicating. ( for the worse I might add )
The time of attacks has mostly been the same.
The length of an attack has mostly been the same
The only changes for me have been the durations of a complete cycle. 3 mo to yrs.

Now as I have attempted to read many of the postings here, It seems like a lot of folks have days of 1-3 attacks and next day maybe 8 and all numbers in between.
Or long duration attacks and then shorter
Or varying intensities day to day.

Question is what's up with that?
Your blowing my knowledge base all to pieces. How many attacks in a 24 hr period change or never change and if changes to what do you suspect is the reasons.
Or is my assumption still good and just misreading again.

Back at my episodic days, I had usually 4 - 5 attacks/day and I could tell what time it was when the pain started by heart.

But when my CH turned chronic, that changed. I had 1-11 attacks/day, time changed by the day.

The intensity of the attack always varied.

But we're all different, that makes ch harder to deal with.

That has been the MOST frustrating part of having CH is that this BEAST is always changing things up...

Meds that worked once, don't work this time...

One cycle I get them on the Left, next time its the Right, sometimes its Both..

Some cycles I get all night time attacks, some cycles I get them only during the day, this last cycle they just went Nuts...

Thats the Mad part of CH for me...

Hi MJ,

Yup, just keep reading. We're all the same and we're all different. What works for you may not work for me or vice versa. What works now may not work tomorrow.
The more you know the more opportunity for application
the next time.

Know yourself, so true in life. even more critical  for CHers. It is neverending. During episodic years I did not need a watch while in cycle. Last year it changed COMPLETELY with hits anytime, anywhere. Frustrating, oh yeah! But you gotta adapt. Don't make assumptions.

I agree with Jon -- the only thing constant about CH is the changes.

Mine have never hit on a regular basis - I can't set a clock by them - it's like they just pick their moments (usually inconvient times).

MJ, I don't think anyone is going to have a concrete answer for you. We just live with what we've got and do the best we can. Meds may work today and then tomorrow quit working. It's like being on a roller-coaster.

Every cycle is different, and within the cycle, the CH hits are also different.  Some long, some short, some very hard bad, some very light and easy to get through.  It's never the same.  So, don't make assumptions with regard to this condition because If you do, boy are you going to be in for a big surprise when the beast decides to change it up a little.  Just be ready for anything and everything.

Being new to this caper I can only go on what has happened in the two cycles iv'e had.

First time HA's started late afternoon after a couple of beers, I would only have 1 that evening for the first week to 10 days then they ramped up gradually to a peak of three a day for about two weeks and then gradually tapered off untill they just stopped as quickly as they started, max hit was KIP 8 at best.

Second time they started much the same as the last but started getting 3-4 a day after about 5 days and they got to a peak of around 5 a day at any time of the day with a good two weeks of sleep deprevation and 3 KIP 10's bang in the middle and then gradually tapered off untill I only got shadows.
This time around I still have the shadows 8 months after the big hits stopped, could I be going cronic, I don't know only time will tell.

This probably only throws more confusion into the frequency debate but we are all different in the way anything effects us be it CH or the common cold.

Kind Regards
Barry
