Has anyone had Easy Off oven cleaner set off their attacks? I was cleaning the oven this morning and got the door cleaned fine, then I was leaning in the oven to clean the sides etc. and WHAM outta nowhere someone stuck that damn poker in my eyeball. Anyone else have that trigger an attack?? Cat

I've not tried to clean the oven recently, (it's not that dirty yet) but I do know that chemical odors are a trigger for some, and for me it's the stench of asphalt, specially if I'm shadowing already to start with.

No, I don't use the stuff. (...Don't know what the says about my oven ..lol ...) The fumes are one of the reasons why I don't. They are nasty and in a tight space too. I'm not surprised it was a trigger. Be careful and please make sure you have a fan on and a mask or something. PF on the way! -lionsound

Well I had the fan on and the doors open and bought the fume free stuff. The only reason I cleaned the oven is because Clark was complaining that it was smoking and stinking every time he turned it on hehe. Diesel is almost always a trigger for me, but so far not many other fumes have been. Vick's nasal inhalers seemed to trigger me, but that was before I knew what I had. It was just really weird, it was a very rapid onset and straight up the kip scale. I even did something I am absolutely not supposed to do because of a cardiac condition--I went ahead and used a 1/3 of a trex shot. I didn't have a choice. Well now Clark has to clean the oven and I have a really valid excuse Cat

Any Strong cleaning agent is a trigger for me. Like Tilex, and Lysol floor cleaner. Any chemical with a strong oder I now try to stay away from.

Hi Cat, Most strong aromas are triggers for me. I would guess that the oven cleaner was the culpret. There is another thread on triggers about smoking. In cycle, cigarette smoke is no problem, but cigar smoke is a CH waiting to happen. Hope that was the only CH for awhile for ya. PFDAN

Once a weird scent candle triggered attack and a nasty one. And smell of cigarettes is a trigger for me. But I've never been hit during household chores. Sanna
