Hi Catherine, The simple answer is I don't know, it could have done.. how long do you usually have between your cycles? You have been pretty lucky to get two years PF in all honesty so it could just have been unlucky coincidence that the two have hit together OR.. it could be triggered by the anaesthetic. Are you currently under a neuro in the UK? Do you have any meds or O2? You'll find alot has changed since your last cycle for the better I hope! I don't know if you found OUCH UK last time round but they are great, the website is fantastic, a lot of useful info on drugsd available in the UK and O2 etc (which I have to say is FANTASTIC!!) If you haven't tried it please do.. I cna't believe the diffeence its made to my life! The website for OUCH UK is http://www.clusterheadaches.org.uk/home/index.cfm?address=../home/txt_we lcome.cfm&added=Dec2001&code=AD They have a doctors site you might want to point your GP at here http://gpinfo.ouchuk.org/ and they also have a helpline. I don't know if you have ever spoken to another ch'er but its an expereience like no other. To speak to someone who truly understands what you are going through is very liberating. Its an answerphone so leave your name and number and someone will call you back. 0161 2721702 I hope this all helps, let us know how you are getting on here regardless okay? I hope you get some relief soon Helen

Hi Catherine, I had back surgery in April, and 3 days after it my cycle started. Like you, I had been pain free for 3 years.... The thing you must remember is that if you are episodic, which sounds like you are, the cycle WILL end. Hang in there. Jose

I think mine was either the anesthesia of the surgery, or the meds that I took after. I was on Vicadin and the CH started the day after I stopped the meds. I'm glad I found this place too!

I had an emergency appendectomy last year. At the time I had been cycle free for 3 years. I was lucky and a cycle wasn't triggered. What worried me was the use of the narcotics. A sure trigger.

Had a RFTN for CH. Had all symptoms of CH but felt no pain for 5 years. Nerves grew back and pain began again. After 2 years of pain, I was again faced with no choice but surgery. The 2nd RFTN was unsuccessful (couldn't get electrode to brain). Another surgeon tried a few weeks later and was also technically unsuccessfull, however, after the two attempts, I was PF for 2years. It's thought that the trauma of the surgery stopped the pain.

I had an episode of bad headaches in April 2002 which were never properly diagnosed but disappeared after a month or so. I have just had surgery (sigmoid colectomy for the boffins) and the day after leaving hospital I had a beer which triggered a massive headache. I've been getting these for the best part of a month now and they show all the symptoms of CH (although some mis-givings as I've explained in the thread I started). Maybe there is something in this anesthesia thing?
