2 yrs and i'm back w/ The Beast

Hi all, For those of you on this site 2 yrs ago or even 5 yrs ago, I was suffering form episodic CH at those years and active on this site during those times. Well, unfortunaltely i'm back, THE BEAST IS BACK that is! It's been about 10 days or so now and I get them 2 to 3 times daily. My health insurance considers this a pre-exisitng condition so I can not get scripts, etc for another yr or so regarding CH's, not even O2. So, I need to play this a different way and could use some advice please take the time of you have something worthwhile t contribute...a friend of my Mom's in another state is a doctor. He is willing to wrote scripts for me and peel his name off the label (malpractive insurance reasons-well respected and understood) and have me pay cash for the meds, then have my Mom FedEx me what I need. So this is the good news! The bad news is that I forgot what to get...I have researched archives from my previous posts in 2000 and also Fall 2003 and have concluded that I was taking Prednisone and Verapamil as preventatives. And I was taking Imitrex shits and o2 for abortives. Here are a couple questions perhaps you would be kind enough to add your 2 cents....1. What are the minimal recommended therapeutic dosages for Pred and Verap. I need to let ths guy know how many pills of each and the mg amount of each. 2. Any special precautions for mailing these drugs FedEx or UPS such as sending with icepacks for temperature or if these drugs need to be packaged in a specific way to avoid losing potency. He will be sending me Trex shots also. So once again, what are the recommended daily doasges of Pred and Verap, what mg tablet do I have him order and how many should I order? If I recall correctly either the Pred or the Verap had a couple different type of pills. Anybody? Thanks in advance....Gregg in Las Vegas

Sorry to hear you're getting hit but welcome back to the headbangers ball. I understand that your health insurance won't pay for the scripts, but health insurance can not tell you are not allowed to get a prescription for said drugs or O2. I understand if you are strapped and can't come up with the dough yourself what a fix that would put you in, but they can't keep you from accessing them if you can pay for them -- and if you're going to pay cash anyway through your other arrangement, keep it above board with your own doc and pay for them there. Am I not getting it or something?

Seasonal Boomer, thanks for your interest/reply...money is not the issue at all right now, will gladly pay and able to pay whatever I need to for preventaives and abortives. Was just outling my current insurance scnario that I do not want to have anything show up on any pharmacy or doctor records due to this pre-exisitng condition. Any pharmacy or doctor is required to keep records. There is a chance that the insurance company will find out if I have been diagnosed or prescribed meds related to CH's, this is a chance I will not take for future assurance. Therefor I must look at other alternatives and fortunately my Mom has a friend who is a doctor willing to write a script to himself, peel off the label with his name on it (for his protection of potential litigation-well respected and understood) and send the meds to me FedEx from another state. So....not using insurance nor local doctors or pharmacies, will pay cash through this out of state docotr friend and need to know....what to order! 2 yrs ago, it was Pred and Verap as preventatives. Trex shots and 02 for abortives. Can't recall and WOULD APPRECIATE SOME REPLIES as to quantities to order of the Verap and Pred. I thought the Pred was 60mg daily for 7 days, then taper for 7 days. As for the Verap, think it is the SR tablet...240 mg daily and taper 2 weeks after CH cease. It has been 2 years since my last CH and can not locate any of my past archive posts relevant to my questions, so thought I would post this fore HELP PLEASE....thanks in advance, Gregg in Las Vegas
