I'm going to my 1st Neuro appointment next wed. and I was wondering if there is anything I should go over with him that I may not be thinking of.,  any suggestions?
I have my Imitrex injections and have been on Pred.(just came off of , didn't kill cycle this time  Cry)
I know everyone is differant but what seems to be the most successful drug to kill the cycle?
I just  can't believe it's taken me almost 10 years to go see a neuro. Roll Eyes

Sorry to hear it didn't work out for you.

This is a good starting point. It was written in Feb. 2005 and has 3 tables listing the more popular drug therapies. They use the generic drug names.

http://www.aafp.org/afp/20050215/717.html

Oxygen is the treatment of choice followed closely by Sumatriptan(Imitrex injections) for abortives.
Verapamil leads the list for preventitives.

I use O2 and Verapamil and have had excellent results with both. A new thing being tried by many is Kudzu. You can read more about that on the Treatment board.

print out all of the documents we provided you with information and KNOW IT!!!!

Then make sure your doc is willing to read and work with you not just yes you to death or blow anything off.

Let him no how extreme things are and

Do not walk out of there without a script for O2!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck,

I agree with that. The more you know the more you can ask. And besides not all neuros know everything about ch. You can spot that when you know a lot yourself.

And tell your neuro your experience with former meds.

Be firm with him/her. Tell them what you have experienced and if they don't listen, find another doc. They cannot truly help you if they're not willing to listen to you properly.

Good luck!

Let us know how your visit went, okay?

Best wishes,
Sanna
