Swelling? Is this normal!

Hi Everyone -

Long time since my last post, but they're back! But this time around, I think I've deduced it to what sets them off - something about cigarette smoke.

Anyways, when I have an attack, my face (Im a Leftside CHer) swells from my eye down to my jawline. Does anyone else experience similar symptoms?

Thanks - and hope everyone is well.
Chal

The research says YES it's part of the inflammatory process of CHs.

My eye gets puffy and my nose gets stuffy.

Everytime I think I figure out the trigger and avoid it, I get another attack and the viscous cycle starts all over again.

I hope you have really found your trigger, just don't get too disappointed if it's not the case.

Best wishes for shorter cycles and longer PF periods Smiley

Im (unfortunately) getting there with the eye swollen shut in this series.. just hoping it will pass. I've begun keeping a diary - not of the 3-4s, but of the 6's and up. Really, really tired today and looking pretty deformed... Hoping to reduce the swelling soo.

Yes, I get swelling also. The good side -- the wrinkles disappear.

When I'm in anything over a 7 my eye swells shut, waters, and turns beet red.

Nose runs, and gets stuffed up, the temple burning stabbing feeling, the teeth aching, eyebrow ach, top of head soreness and neck,

And when all's said and done I can't touch the top of my head it's to tender.

I only get this from the rebounds. Once a non rebound attack is over I'm pretty much fine.

Ever think of hanging around when your pain free so you can answer some newbies questions about what you have been through?

Think about it!....If we didnt you would have shit for info....right?

It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

Ditto to Jonny,

Not meant to offend, Chal, but others could certainly benefit from your experiences - especially the newbies.

At any rate ... I also get the swelling.  For me it's in my temple, which is also tender to the touch when in cycle.  Also, my cluster eye has drooped for over 7 years now - worse during cycle, but still a little bit all the time.  I especially notice it in photos.  Part of the syndrome I guess.

Stick around, my friend!

Swelling of my CH side eye happens when the biggie's hit.  Eyelid droops so low, I virtually cannot see out of it.  I look like I've just been smacked in the eye by a fist.  hammer    My jaw doesn't seem to swell, but the inside roof of my mouth sure does, and it is extremely hot and painful.  So, I guess we all puff out here and there a little differently.

Hang in there!  Wishing you PF forever.

Sometimes during a cycle the affected side- for me always my right side - my face will get very swollen. It usually takes a couple of days to fully go away.

I get very noticable swelling that goes away by mid day and makes another appearance after the next nights attacks.
