Time For A New Doc
« on: May 23rd, 2005, 3:27pm »

I've been calling my Neurologist since last Thursday to try to set up an appointment.  Left countless messages and been told "someone will get right back to you".  No response from anyone until today, only to be told she can see me at the end of July.  I told them that was not acceptable.  They then switched me to her nurse, you guessed it - voicemail.  I expect it will be several days before the nurse is able to take time out of her busy schedule to contact me.

In the meantime I'll contact my family doctor and work from that end.  I'm also giving some thought to a written complaint to the Board of Medical Practice.

All I'm asking here is to talk to someone about a freekin appointment for kerists sake!

Don't give up. Doc will call when the mercedes payment is next due.

Until then, have you tried a z-pac, imitrex or my new favorite, FROVA?

Keep the faith, this too shall pass. Shocked

it's hard to get thru to them that you are in daily pain

or even excruciating pain.

MY receptionist is tired o f me calling and I have only called twice.  her last sentence was very fun.
"As Long as they don't get worse, you don't need to call us again."

Um hello.  i was calling ot say the preventative
the doc put me on hasn't changes one thing.

Hello.

Do you want to see another paycheck?????

Sometimes persistance is the only thing you have
so keep calling and bugging the hell out of them.

At least youwill get some samples of something
that might help.

Thats wrong Angry What, like maybe these people don't understand what we are going thru and trying to live with.
When I went looking for a Neuro. I went straight for the headache/pain clinic. Figured they'ed be better then just a neuro. Made my 1st. apt. no problem, called for a second, got voice mail, and they called back in about 30 mins. and had me set up no problem.

Well Mike, at least you have a better insight to the meds. and treatments now. Maybe you and the family Dr. can work together.

Better days Smiley

Well, it took a week but the Neuro called today out of the blue!!!  I was impressed!  Going to try a round of Indomethacin to rule out Hemicrania Continua (please let it be that!) and if it doesn't work, up the Verapamil to 720/day.

It's not that I don't like you folks, but I'd much prefer to have the Indomethacin kill my headaches and have it be Hemicrania than clusters.

wish me luck!!!

Hmmm. I say only give your doc 24 hours and then call  back. Your relationship should be based on mutual respect. If this keeps up, there could come a time that you might want to consider getting another doctor.  I wouldn't rush out and get another doctor, but file this one in the back of your head for future reference!  >: The June Headache/Migraine newsletter at www.remedyfind.com will feature an article about seeking the treatment of a h/a specialist and/or finding a new one. You can sign up now by going to the website. It should be out shortly.

I don't have CH, I have horrible migraines. Doc says they have "cluster features." Can I still stay? Migraines suck. Can I say that?
