I sure am lucky

I read the severe sufferer's messages and I feel very fortunate. I've had CH for about 30 years. In the early years I had a FEW KIP 10's. My episodes go for only 2-4 weeks, in the Fall and Spring, one episode a day which only lasts maybe 30-45 minutes. The typical episode is only a KIP 7 or less. I also skip 1-2 years between cycles. I take no treatment. 99% of the episodes wake me from sleep, and I have learned to arise IMMEDIATELY and get active, ... and stay UPRIGHT. This season, I have kept them down to oh, ... KIP 4-7 and turn 'em around in about 15 minutes. I read that CH CAN go from episodic to chronic and vice versa as well as go from left side to right and vice versa. I hope I am lucky enough to stay where I am. I would make a deal w/ the demon, ... don't get any worse, and I won't desire a cure (for myself of course). I consider myself most fortunate, and wish/hope I can help others who suffer more than I do. Hang in there folks. Headway is being made. Love, ... jb

You are lucky because your attitude is great! That you have to deal with this in the slightest stinks! Have you ever tried melatonin??? If you do have the "typical" wake you up in the middle of the night horrors then.... Melatonin might be very helpful. Many of us (myself included) have found that taking 6-9mg (some take more) about a 1/2 hour to 45minutes prior to bed have Knocked out the night visits and can finally get sleep. With the exception of 8-10 times.....I have slept through the night since August.....Still get hit during the day but my overall quality of life is better because I am not as exhausted all the time. Some people report that it seems to make them worse....The fact is that we are all different and respond differently to everything therefore it may or may not... The one thing I will tell you as far as my experience was that I had to stick with it...The first night I took melatonin, I was awoken with a doozy only I was too groggy to find my O2 .....It got a lot better for me....I then slept through the night but would get slammed about 1/2 hour after waking up....kinda like knocking the beast off schedule.....then again I was peaking and this cycle has been all over the place with no real pattern. I stayed with melatonin and have had decent sleep overall. It may help and it is natural with not too many side effects....also ask your doctor b/c if there are any side effects or contraindications...I think they have to do with mild depression..... Like I said we are all different. Best wishes, good luck & stay as positive as you can!!!! Eric

| Don't make that deal jb. Demons don't tell the truth and they don't keep their deals.

I have to agree with Eric....your attitude is outstanding! Think I might need to take attitude lessons.. Welcome to Clusterville! I'm a native Texan...we're almost neighbors. I'm episodic....and I too, am thankful for my PF time. Good luck....and best wishes for many PF days. Jean
