nasal surgery ??

Im having nasal surgery on May 10th, My Ch side of my sinusis are completely blocked, according to my cat scan, and a nasal scope procedure. Has anyone had the surgery, how is the pain and recovery in the first couple weeks following surgery, and did it help with your CH after the procedure? I dont have a choice in having the procedure. Having as much blockage as I have is just not healthy. The nerosurgoen believes I dont get enough air when Im sleeping at night and its possible that it contributes,"though not the total reason" to me waking up with CH just after bedtime. Any advise and experiances that any of you have had would be helpfull. Thanks Bigred

That sounds like greek to me, not familiar with those terms. I had my nose surgery in the mid 80's, I broke it in high school, calcium build up, septum shift, etc, had almost no air passing at all. The surgery didnt help the CH but it damn sure was nice being able to breathe again, and to sleep without nasal spray by the bed Even if it doesn't help the CH (and it may) you will probably feel much better. There will be some pain, when I had it done I spent a week in the hospital, 2 years ago they completely reconstructed my daughters nose and it was done on outpatient basis! I guess much better procedures are done now. Best of luck with it, hope it helps.

Is your nostril clogged even when not getting hit with clusters? When on prednisone also? The reason I ask is I also had sinus surgery for a blocked sinus pathway on my ch side. Had all the same procedures you are set up for. Did they help my ch? NO Is there risks? YES!! PLEASE get a second opinion. The ethmoidectomy you have listed required that they go just below your ethmoid bone (the bone that separates your sinuses from your brain) and do some clean up work. During my "day surgery", while they were doing the ethmoidectomy, the surgeon slipped and ran the instrument thru my ethmoid bone, tore the dura surrounding my brain and perforated my brain. The ethmoid bone will not heal from circular holes thus I had to have a second surgery where a specialist took skin and muscle from behind my ear and glued to the bottom of my ethmoid bone to stop the cerebral spinal fluid from pouring out my nose from my cranium. Had that not worked or if it ever leaks, I will have to have a craniotomy. 17 days in ICU for a day surgery on the sinuses that later was found was not needed and was just CH clogging the nostril. Please get a second opinion!
