Does anyone know if the Imitrex stradadose needles are detectable by the metal detecters at the airport? I have to fly next week and will not get on the plane without one!

Get your doc to write a RX for them. I carry a scrip for O2, needles and other meds in my billfold just for the airport security. My doc just wrote a note that I had to carry meds and if needed to give me O2. I've never had any trouble. Hugs BD

I suspect that the springs in the statdose cartridges are detectable. I would bring the statdose cartridges with the "tamper-evident seal" intact in the box with the pharmacy label on it that has the prescription info. Bob

Read about a dude in England a few months ago that had a note from his doc for insulin injects......he told the airline that if he did not have them in the plane he could die.......they told him "Fuck off"...your not flying. Call the airline you will be flying with.

Jonny's right. Call the airline as some have confiscated them. Also worth having a few Imigran nasals as back-up, they don't confiscate those. Wendy

The decision is not made by the airline you are flying with. The decision is made by Airport Security at the airport you are flying from. Sometimes those decisions are discretionary when the object in question is not specifically banned. Might be better to call airport security at the airport you are flying from. Bob

I had syringes in my carry-on bag, and they xrayed it, but nothing. They either didn't care, or didn't see them. I kept them with my vials, and a copy of my script. I didn't have any problems.

I just flew to Ohio with my kit in my pocketbook out of Logan in Boston, they never saw it. Then I got pulled over by security coming back and they went through all of my stuff. Funny thing, they never looked in the inside part of my pocketbook (where the imitrex was). Yep security's good. But they did pull my lighter out and say... "as of April so and so you won't be able to fly with this anymore" Im like, ya ok, thanks.

When I took a flight to Vegas back in September I had my Trex in my pocket. I placed it in the tray with my other belongings. They never questioned it at all. The only problem I had was the eyelets on my shoes set off the alarm. They did the normal search routine. I then proceeded to the strip to give away all my cash.

I fly quite frequently, and I alway carried a load of trex with me. I'm talking about two or three packages of syringes. I was never questioned about the syringes or the vials. Not even when they damn near strip seached me and tore my bags apart. But don't rely on our experiences......take a RX from your doctor just in case. And don't put your loaded syringes in the overhead like I did......they won't let you stand up and get them when you get hit during takeoff. Roxy

| I think it might be better still to carry a copy of the local ariport security rules and possibly the country's laws that apply. Just calling ahead might depend too highly on the numbskull who answered the phone that day. Documentation of their own rules as well as your doctor's scripts and pharmacy printed materials might all be needed if they decide to get nasty about it. This also makes me wonder whether it is safe to carry such medications and injecters etc. even when traveling interstate highways. I've heard horror stories about U.S. highway mounties in lonely places like southern Utah where I drive regularly. Granted that illegal drug runners may be out there from time to time, just being unshaven and not having several kids in your minivan might be enough for them to want to spend your afternoon watching them search through all your stuff. Perhaps it's easier just to hide such things in an obscure pocket or in a money belt.

Wish I did needle point, just so I could chime in.......but alas, snorts do me just fine. What would be interesting is if you can get thru airport security with your own, personal CGA 540 15 lpm O2 Regulator THAT would be interesting. RJ
