Do I have CH's or am I just crazy?

One Monday a month and a half ago I was yelling at my son and all of a sudden I felt like Roy Jones caught me between the eyes. All I saw was bright wavy colors. For the 2 days I wanted to be a bat. I went to work anyway but I wanted to die my head hurt so bad. I had an MRI but before I could goet going the next day I was so dizzy I was taken to the hospital. That was that Thursday. After a shot of Immetrex and more than 1 shot of Morphine (all in vain), I was admitted. I was given every test under the sun. 4 MRI's (3 diffrent types), a CT scan, EKG, hell I was waiting for the Pap Smear too. But all showed nothing. I was given migraine injection cocktails. They just made me puke. DHE - waste of time. Diloddin was great, if you like the heroine addict thing. Then by the NEXT Wednesday (after being transferred to another hospital of course) somebody on the 30 Neurologist staff came up with the bright idea to do a spinal tap. It left me with a spinal headache for 3 weeks. But rest easy I checked myself out that Friday (1 full week later) to recoup at home. We all thought the "origional" headache was gone. WRONG! Sort of. Now I get what I call contractions in my head. I get a sharp pain in my right eye then the temple, then the forehead. Though I am not running thru the halls I am hurt bad. Once the sharp pain goes away then my temples feel swollen. My eyes usually swell too. Often it hurts so bad my hand shakes and I can't stop it. I get these 3 to 4 times a day. Often the same time. By the way I NEVER HAD ANY HEADACHES BEFORE - ANY! Strangly enough I get this funny taste in my mouth after a headache. Metalllic like or like blood. No I didn't bite myself. I have a whole week before I can see the headache specialist. Can I be a CH victim? Do you get these things too?

I've had a spinal tap in an ER like that too.
Hell on earth.
first thought:
classic migraine...
aura?
(All I saw was bright wavy colors.)
Length of attack too long?
(For the 2 days I wanted to be a bat.)

I'm so sorry to hear what a tough time you have been having with all of this. I have experienced the funny taste in the mouth and shakiness which I think is a result of the severe pain. But from what you described, you could also have migraine going on. Watch for the aura showing up ahead of the headache. It seems to me that you need more evaluation. And it also sounds as if you were completely over-medicated at the hospital. Research this site as much as you can, and take the cluster quiz (at the left) to help you sort all this out. I haven't had any more auras thankfully. The one sided paid did, however intensify. So much so that I had to go back to the ER yesterday. I procrastinated for a while but I went. Thankfully they didn't admit me but the doctor did say that he felt I was having cluster headaches. The very first initial headach was a Status Migrane. But these are now CH's. But they gave me Toradol and it was like a miracle. Though I woke up this morning very foggy, it was a God send not to have a headache.
