Hi, has anyone tried this?  I'm not sure whether to or not cause I'm not sure abpit the side effects . Right now I'm sticking to my Imigra injections.

Another MAJOR question, do these clusters ever end?  I've been getting them since I was twelve and now I'm (keep it to yourselves) 41.

Anyway, all the best to everyone

Hi pajak

I use Verapamil as preventative . . . . but not familiar with "hydrochlorise" . . . . I'm sure someone will be along who knows the difference.

Have you tried 02 as abortive?  Works wonders for many of us (70%) if used early-on in the ha with proper regulator and mask.  See "oxygen info" link to left of screen.  If it works for you, you can save the injections for the ones the 02 doesn't reach.

Keep in touch and let us know how you're doing.

Verapamil is widely used for controlling blood pressure and some types of irregular heart beats.  It has a good safety profile.  Verapamil is probably better for your body than imigran - with the triptans, it is let the headache happen, then slap it down.  With verapamil, it is prevent the headaches by improving the calcium balance.

Verapamil hydrochloride is the generic name for Verapamil. You will find about a million threads on here about it as it is the main prevent for CH.

You will also find useful information about 02 therapy and much more besides, including a Helpline number for UK sufferers at OUCh Uk www.clusterheadaches.org.uk

Verapamil is less effective for women (69% of male chronics respond vs. only 20% of female chronics).  So that is another consideration.  But I like the idea of preventives - they (maybe) do something to correct the underlying problem.

Just started a page on verapamil at med-owl.com:

I wish they do end someday.... I've suffered (only) few years, though. But that's enough... Sad
