My last cycle was Sept - Oct, they usually last for 2 months, then I get a 2 year break. Sadly, I started getting shadows last week and immediately called my neuro - started on verap and prednisone. Has anyone had luck aborting the CYCLE if they started the preventatives early. I'm going on vacation next week and I DON'T NEED THIS!!! Thanks!! Valerie

I just started in Sunday - I'm supposed to take 3 20mg tablets for 4 days, then 2 tabs for 4 days, etc. That's a higher dose than I've been on before. Usually once I start the taper the headaches come right back. I haven't had an actual HA yet, just shadows. But is in an unmistakable feeling - I just don't want to go thru this again I also started the verapamil on Sunday - 240mg/day

Hi Valerie, About 2 years ago I felt like I was going to start a cycle and got on prednisone before I actually had a headache and I did not have an episode. I'm not sure if it was the prednisone or not, but I had never taken it "before the fact" until that time. Then I went close to three years with no cycles until last October. This time I had no prior feelings of attacks heading my way so could not get on the pred. until the cycle started. It lasted 13 weeks this time. But in the past I have experienced little warming signs before it started. It is worth a try to get started now. Good luck - dagger

I'm so sorry to hear that your CH is back. I hope that taking preventatives early will do the trick & that you'll have a wonderful holiday! Best wishes, Sandie
