I've been seeing Dr. Neil Raskin, and we have found what seems to be working for me (so far, so good!) Using Verapamil as a preventative has been wonderful. I'm at 1000mg / day, and have now gone three weeks with only minor headache and no CH at all. This is the longest I have been without in three years! Mucho water and Oxygen have been my key abortatives, with the od slapshot of Demerol thrown in. But three weeks! I feel like a new man! Wahoo!!

That's really cool man!! I have been lucky lately. I have started verapimil and I think it may be working. I also have started taking melatonin and dyphenhydramine before bed and I sleep through the whole night with not so much as a shadow. When I wake up, i do not feel groggy at all. For the first time in many months, I slept through the whole night!! It's completely amazing, I wake up feeling totally rejuvenated and refreshed. I think you'll agree: thanks to this board and all the supportive people here. PF wishes BMonee

Just a reminder ... taper off the Verapamil slowly when you think your cycle's over; you don't want to quit suddenly. I was at 720mg (240mg SR 3X day) Verapamil this past cycle and my doc has me dropping down by 120mg every 2-3 weeks. I have high blood pressure so I stay at 240mg SR 365/year. CONGRATS on finding something that works for you!!

I've been seeing a headache specialist for about 10 years. Same one. Trie numerous drugs until we found the right combo. I am usually on Depakote 500mg AM and PM as well as Verapamil 120 AM and 180 PM. Right now I am in a cluster. Have been for 4-5 weeks. Doubled the meds. Hop it works. I go in the Hospital about once per year for IV drug treatment when I can't get out of cluster. That might be soon. Glad to hear that you are on the right road to recovery.
