Damnit, don't give in to the bullshit that "the voices" are spewing. No, it's not okay to just have one. And no, it isn't THAT hard! You have all the strength you need to stop, just shout them down and get on with it. Our society perpetuates the idea that you are likely to relapse into being a smoker because it is SOOOOO HARDDDDD. Bullshit.

#1 - Start to focus on the image you have of yourself. Does she have a cig in her hand? If so, you better start redrawing your image. And she shouldn't have a smoke in her hand. What does she like to do? What does she act like when things get stressful? It's all part of moving past cigarettes.

As soon as you change your iamge of yourself you start living the life of a nonsmoker, not simply someone who doesn't get ot smoke anymore. WHICH YOU DON'T!

So, that's all for this afternoon's "boot camp" moment.

(You can do it.)

Thank you so much everyone, well uh... maybe except Rock  Undecided, for your words of wisdom.  This is my first cycle NOT smoking, so it's been a very trying one for me.  I have had clusters for 15 years, and 12 of them I smoked.  Consequently, my clusters and my smoking both started when I was 16.  Anyway, Jan 23rd will mark 1 yr since I had quit...again.  Some of you remember last time I quit, I had quit for 1 yr and 4 months... then I had Eli and my CH's came back with a vengence when he was 2 1/2 weeks old.  I also had started smoking again because I could not bear going through the cycle without some sort of crutch.  (and I sure as hell can't drink!)

I shouldn't have much longer in my cycle (praying) so it's amazing to me that the urge is so strong right now. Undecided  I just hope I can make it through, and I'm sorry to have outburst on this, but I was having a VERY hard time.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

 Kissmel

P.S. I really don't want to start up again, I like the way I smell, I love the way I don't get sick anymore and have colds for forever, and I like the fact it's not the first and last things I think of in the morning and before bed.  It doesn't dictate my life anymore.... I do.

Think I'll tattoo that somewhere...

I have found with any drug or narcotic etc cigarettes included that you will have cycles of dreams of using and desires of using.  The most you can do is prepare for these cycles and over come them by being strong and having a good support group. Vent away.  Keep your positive imagae in your minds eye.  That will help alot.  Remember to breath and remember this to shall pass.

Don't do it. It's way too hard to quit all over again. You'll hate yourself. Remember how much fun you have standing out in a blizzard with others. What joy!

I did coke everyday for nearly 15 years, started selling it so I didnt have to pay for it. When I started smoking it I knew I had to quit and did, just walked away from it!

Ciggs are more hard to quit than herion, its something most cant just walk away from.

Melly, you got a year under your belt on this....Dont you dare fuck this up!!!

I still smoke ciggs so that tells you how much stronger you are than I am, Keep being that strong....your a role modle for lots of folks here.....Even me!!  Kiss

Don't worry, I didn't light up, and I won't.

It's been a very trying day though...  My son hit a tree when hubby and daughter took him sledding...

He's OK, but I need to pick up some of that cream that helps to prevent scarring.  We are extremely lucky a branch didn't take out an eye or two. Sad

And before they came home, I had just got home from shopping and was taking things out of the car when Nikita (our Sheltie) went across the road (she normally doesn't do that, she always is by my feet).  I turned around and saw the car coming, and well, I saw the front passenger side tire hit her.  To make a long story short, we got back from the vet an hour ago, and she had said we have one lucky dog.  Just need to keep an eye on her for the next 24 hours, make sure she doesn't vomit or her gums turn white.  She's sorta groggy from the pain pills the doc gave her.  Basically, no broken bones, no internal noises, she can walk (with a slight wobble on the hips, where she got hit), and she's responsive.  She is going to be VERY sore for awhile. Sad

And now that things have calmed down, my head is hurting again.  I'm sure tonights activity will be up. Roll Eyes  I'm a little pissed off right now as I bought Jesse a bottle of Single Malt Scotch that was on sale and I CAN'T HAVE A DAMN DRINK OF IT!

Aww, that poor little tyke.  Now that's the saddest little face I've seen in a while.  I'm sure he'll be fine Mel, but in the meantime, give him a big hug from me.

And the dog - good Lord woman - you've had a day and a half.  Thankfully, it's nearly over.  Just go to bed - tomorrow's another day!!!

Hugs comin' your way tonight.

Smokein BAAAAAAD !! Am glad I never developed the habit......but I do smoke when we go out......bad bad bad !! I feel like shit the next day.....thought it was havein a few beers when out but when I drank pop all nite twice recently and not one beer (I was drivein) I REALIZED it was the dam cigs !!!! I am amazed at how the docs ask you rite off the bat if you smoke when you go in for sumthin. The doc that treated my broken foot said it WILL AND DOES slow healing by a long shot and screws up the immune system.....my doc keeps askin me about smokeing also.....said it flares up arthritis and other pain problems and does cause colds ect to last ALOT longer and get more of them. New Years eve party is comein up and I jus know I am goin to smoke like a dam chimney but I don't want to 'dam it' !!! Screws up my sinus for days too......all sorts of things. WHY DO WE SMOKE ANYHOW ?? I can tell if sumone is a heavy smoker by lookin at em.......yellow teeth and all Pam  Tongue

Keep up the good work........don't be a butttttttt !!!!!

PS: sorry bout the accidents around the house....glad everyone is ok !!!!!
