What Are You Listening To This Holiday Season?

I can't listen to Christmas music this year for some reason. If and when I am subjected to it, it depresses the hell out of me for some reason. My brother was playing the Elvis Christmas album while the kids opened their gifts and while I love Elvis, all I could think of is Jim Carrey during his "In Living Color" days dressed in a santa suit, drunk and saying "God I wish I was sucking on a 12 gauge!" This has been THE MOST miserable holiday season for me, but I have hid it from everyone in order not to spoil theirs. So, been listening to music that makes me smile: At The Drive-In - Relationship Of Command Korn - Take A Look In The Mirror Radiohead - The Bends Paul McCartney - Flowers In The Dirt Arch Enemy - Nemesis Demon Hunter - The Triptych Garth Brooks - Double Live U2 - How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral Rush - Hemispheres (My fave Rush disc since I was 9) My Chemical Romance - Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge Depeche Mode - Violator The Vines - Compilation Cocteau Twins - Treasure Zeal - This Is The Raw! - Demo (A band I was in back in the early 90's. We were way ahead of our time. There was nothing going on in the scene back then like us, funk/thrash/jazz/psychedelic soul). I was listening to ALOT of country for awhile, and my buddy Fred walked in one day and said "You need a heavy metal/ punk rock intervention!" Well, he brought me the new System Of A Down disc "Hypnotize" and it is stuck in my player. I could care less about their politics. I love their twisted music!) What y'all been listening to?

| Only song that cheers me up holiday-wise... "I Am Santa Claus!" Not sure who did this song, but it is to the tune of Black Sabbath's "Iron Man" and the only line I can remember is "If you have cookies and beer, he'll visit your house first this year." If I find it, I will upload it and post it here. Carl * Link removed due to putfile.com/nazis deleting my media. Bastages!

Every single radio station I get on my car played non-stop Christmas music beginning the day after Thanksgiving. Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas music, but GEEZ! Not once this season did I hear Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer, my favorite. Anyway, it got to be too much, too often, too repititious. I heard every Christmas song played or sung by every single person who ever recorded it at least a dozen times each. ENOUGH! Now, my radio stations are playing the usual crap. I just stick my Niel Diamond CD, or better yet, my George Michael old tape, Faith (It's so old, I really need the CD) into the good old dashboard .

I did get to listen to PART of Cheech and Chong's Xmas song but we'd just got to my mom's Xmas eve and couldn't sit out in the truck listening to the rest of it....dam it !! Got to see part of Chevy Chase's family Xmas too.......was a pieces part kinda holiday anyhow. Been listenin to Seether and the new Nickleback's cd in my truck....just bought that new System of a Down today and the first part made me want to choke santa's.......kinda of 'piss me off stuff' for the first part but I "did like" track 8 and several from there on. That heartbeat fast stuff gives ya an attitude and I like heavy metal.....but you can feel your blood pressure rise and ya feel like punchin sumthin.....not cool esp depending on yer mood. Fist for tunes Pam Perk up Carl.....you could be in Iraq.........

Just bought "Bob Marley & The Wailers- Africa Unite: The Singles Collection" Currently on 97.9 JACK FM they're playing "The Police- King of Pain" I love listening to the radio more than CD's, because my mood shifts so much when it comes to music. I cannot just listen to one album by the same artist straight through, I need variety. Yeah, I know I can burn my own, but that takes loads of time (dial-up) and the site I used to d/l all my songs from I can no longer get them through. There is only ONE album I can listen straight through, and that is "Barenaked Ladies- Stunt" (oh yeah, and anything by Stevie Nicks ) Oh, now "REM- Everybody Hurts" is on.... excuse me...

I LOVE Christmas music. I made some very neat tapes of it years ago. I like it all from Royal Philharmonic to Nashville. Of course the morons who run the city hung speakers all over town that play Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Roger Miller exclusively, it seems, singing all sorts of good, bad and ugly songs. Mostly good but not all damn day. No wonder people stay away from town...that and that there are nothing but Lucy souvenir shops in Jamestown anyway. Charlie

Mostly I'm listening to my kids complaining about each other and me, and singing along badly to their Gorillas and Weird Al Yankovich songs on their MP3s.
