Computer Help Needed Big Time!!

OK so I have my new hard drive, and it's taking me forever to try to regain some sort of similar setup to what I lost....

I'm stuck with trying to configure my wireless.  I have Comcast Broadband internet with a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router.

My laptop has an internal Dell Wlan card which is disabled as I know for a fact that with the way it was set up the last time, I didn't use the Dell  wireless card.

So I also have a Cisco Aironet 350 series external wireless card.  I've been downloading all the files for this wireless card that Jefferson provided.

However, every time I start the Aironet Client Utility, I get an error saying, "You must upgrade your NDIS driver to use all the capabilities of this version of ACU!"

So not only can I NOT figure out how to update my NDIS (Windows is updated, and as far as I can tell...there really isn't anything more I can do) - I can also not figure out how to configure this thing to my wireless card.

This is a royal pain - I've got 2 different wireless cards, a wireless router,  and I'm sitting here hardwired into the router with my laptop.

HELP PLEASE!!!

OK I fixed the NDIS update problem...

Now I just can't get it configured to match the wireless router....I just don't know the exact settings that I should be putting into it...

If you can help, thanks in advance...!

I have limited experience in the Windows wireless hell, but I can tell you what I did. Make sure you have the Wireless configuration utility installed on your computer, the one for the card. Then find the network device screen, and find the tab that enable/disables windows zero config utility. It needs to be disabled because it causes random disconnects and doesn't seem to work correctly with WPA. Then you need to run your wireless configuration utility. Open up your router configuration in a web browser, by typing in 192.168.1.1with the eithernet cable plugged in. Then set a new SSID if you haven't already, with a password, change the wireless channel to something other than the default 6 and create a WPA key. Don't bother with WEP encryption as it is easily cracked. Then have your card search for wireless AP's and when it find it copy/paste your WPA key to it, and it should work. I know a little about computers and it took me about 1hour to get everything to work correctly in windows, so don't give up, just keep trying. If you cannot get it to work, turn off encryption and see if you can connect that way.  If that doesn't work the try reinstalling everything. Also make sure wireless is turn on in the router. I hope any of this helps or someone windows savvy shows up.

Uh,....can you break that down into more idiot-proof steps?  LOL

I'm on the Router Page for Linksys and working with a friend of mine too....using the Aironet Client Utility...and still can't figure things out....

OK Nevermind!

After many many hours, my friend and I got it to work.  We had to turn off the Cisco card and turn on the internal Dell  Wlan card - which is funny because 4 months ago when I set it up,  only the Cisco card would work and not the Dell Wlan...

Ah well!  It's working and that's all that matters!

Paul - thanks for the help!
