Words of Encouragement

Just something to think about as the Holidays are coming up... not everyone has someone, so sometimes, what you say/or don't say, even when you think no one is listening, can have a great impact... (the following text is from an email I received, not my own writing) Be Special to Others A group of frogs were traveling through the woods, and two of them fell into a deep pit. All the other frogs gathered around the pit. When they saw how deep the pit was, they told the two frogs that they were as good as dead. The two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump up out of the pit with all of their might. The other frogs kept telling them to stop, that they were as good as dead. Finally, one of the frogs took heed to what the other frogs were saying and gave up. He fell down and died. The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Once again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just die. He jumped even harder and finally made it out. When he got out, the other frogs said, "Did you not hear us?" The frog explained to them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging him the entire time. Two things to think about: 1. There is power of life and death in the tongue. An encouraging word to someone who is down can lift them up and help them make it through the day. 2. A destructive word to someone who is down can be what it takes to kill him or her. Be careful of what you say. Speak life to those who cross your path. The power of words.... it is sometimes hard to understand that an encouraging word can go such a long way. Anyone can speak words that tend to rob another of the spirit to continue in difficult times. Special is the individual who will take the time to encourage another. Pep

Verklempt? Awww...Didn't mean to do that girl... Helen, where's the tissue? But I know, things can get lackluster this time of year. As for food, our family's Martha Stewart (my sister) is cooking and she does an excellent job, but nothing like having pernil at Mom's along with some reminiscing about Dad. But we're sTILL having arroz con costillitas... That's yellow rice with rib tips Puerto Rican style folks... mmmm MM! Now Frank... listen to Nani. Momma knows best.

Sometimes we too often forget that other people...be they family or strangers, have feelings just like our own and we find it too easy while rushing around in our busy little shell...to fire a salvo of discouragement to others. Thanks Pep

Hi Pep, I made a new post ranting without regard to anything. Had I seen this post first ... maybe I may not have made that post? Sounds great, but I guess I'm just not there yet. Tired of "jumping" I guess. But ... your post has at least got me thinking in other directions if I can put enough energy into it. Thanks ... Dave

| Dave, I just posted to your thread and saw your answer here! Take the energy you need for yourself. Your life is difficult, yes.. but I'm glad you see a glimmer of light, even if its in the distance. Now i'm choked up. Happy Thanksgiving (and I give thanks) to you and Annette. Pep
