general feeling of impending doom...

Every time I come here I find many stories about triumph and tragedy... usually an equal mixture of both. Today, for reasons unknown to me, I "just don't feel right.". Feelings like a major dissapointment, or something really bad is happening/ going to happen or discontent overall. I have no real desire to do much of anything, nor do I really seem to care if I do much of anything which is not really typical. I can't quite put my finger on what it is that is bothering me so much, but I seem to have this indescribable general feeling of impending doom. Best description I have is completely anomalous Can someone offer some insight or maybe help specify parameters some? My sympathies to all who need em My apologies to all who deserve them WTF?! why do I feel this way, and why just all of the sudden I was fine yesterday and days prior... I don't get it. 'Bus

You know Ramon, the brain is kind of like the weather. Unpredictable, sometime predictable, lots of quick changes. Sit and wait to see what tomorrow has to offer. At least that's what I do. Take care, Rex

I'm hoping things look better today. We've all gone through this. It's hard to pin down and I suspect it's not as mysterious as we think. Part of it can be because of holiday fatigue. It's happened to me before Thanksgiving a few times but fortunately, no matter what, I'm a Christmas "junkie." Must be all the cookies and glogg. You're gonna be just fine Ramon. Charlie

I agree with Thomas. Hang in there, pal. Whatever's coming down the pike, I know you are strong enough and resourceful enough to handle it.

I get that a lot around this time of year too. Not so much because of the Holidays, but because of the weather and time changes. Could be just a small case of the blahs . Could be S.A.D. (Seasonal Affective Disorder) http://www.nmha.org/infoctr/factsheets/27.cfm Hopefully tomorrow you're feeling chuffed and up to snuff. Jimmy

When ya feel that way it is hard to pinpoint WHY......we've lost touch with our instincts yet there is so much goin on that we can NOT do anything about. It is overwhelming..........and your natural instincts are to handle overwhelming feelings as doom. As if you have been caught in a cage with no escape or hope to get out. Keep searching for the door.......never end the hunt Pam

How long have you had these feellings of depression? Have you lost your appetite and been losing weight or, conversely, have you suddenly been eating much more than usual and gaining weight? Have you developed insomnia or find yourself without energy and just wanting to stay in bed all day? Have you lost the ability to be happy? Do you feel sad most of the time? Start crying for no apparent reason? Feel helpless, hopeless, useless, not see anything good in your life, feel that you've been a failure at life? Most important, have you been thinking that you'd be better off dead or that your loved ones would be better off is you were dead? Have you been having thoughts of suicide or been planning suicide? If you have been having thoughts like those I've just described, you may be suffering from a cllinical depression, which doesn't necessarily need any specific reason to start, i.e., the loss of a loved one, etc. If what you describe has been going on for a while and getting worse, please get yourself to a doctor and if you are clinically depressed, get a referral to a psychiatrist. Depression is very cureable-there are many excellent anti-depressant medications available. I hope that you are just having a bad day, but if it is more than that, if you have been having the symptoms I've described, please, please get yourself to a doctor. The times between Thansksgiving and Christmas and the period just after Christmas are when depressions hit a high point, but, as I said, depression is very curable and nothng to be ashamed of, not a sign of weakness of any sort. Best of luck.

Hey Cerb, Man, you're talking about the way I feel all the time! No matter how great things are going (and I rationally know they are going well) I always have the feeling of impending doom. Maybe, knowing that a lot of people feel like this can help. Wish I knew how to get past that, but we make our own beds and therefore must sleep in them sometimes. What we see as impending doom may look like a big warm blanket to others. All depends on your perspective. Developing a keen sense of perspective is my only way of coping. Scott

I find that this is another 'cycle' that I go through. I attribute it to bio-rythems. Might be a slight touch of bi-polar sydrome for me, who knows. I just tell myself there is no reason to feel this crappy and I take stock of all that's good in my life. It seems to help a bit, and it does pass. Fire up a fatty and kick back.
