It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

Sleepyman,

I'm afraid you miss the entire point of this board.

Yes, we are here to help each other in times of pain and need.  Many of us are also here year round whenever able to give help and support to others and to those who are new to the diagnosis.  By just "stopping in" when you're in cycle helps nobody but you - why should people care?

The point is to stick around, help others, learn the latest treatments, maybe provide input on things you've discovered have helped you.

That's all I have to say about that (Forrest Gump, alias Kris)

Wow I guess you all are right. My apologies. I have no cures or treatment (I wish I did). I sit and I wait out the pain. I have TONS of sympathy for anyone who has these headaches. The reason I do not or did not come back in my PF period is that all I want to do is forget these even exist. That is wrong of me I guess but I think you could all (maybe relate?). Thanks for listening and the sympathy... I wil do my best to be more sympathetic to those that are here more.

Hey Sleepyman,

Welcome back to the board. You've experienced the message board equivalent of the cold shoulder here on this thread, and I'm trying to throw you a line. It's a good idea when you enter into any community, whether, out on the streets, or here on the information superhighway, to get a feel for the world you are jumping into.

We want people to feel welcome. This community is one of the most amazing sources of information, resources, and support for Cluster Headache in the world. Yes, there are people who come here, read a bit, get what they want and move along. Many never posting, choosing to quietly "get what they want and leave the rest". That's okay.

You're an episodic sufferer, by your post, which by virtue allows you wonderful periods where Cluster can become just a bad memory to you. I'm like you, I go many wonderful months every year with nothing but the sorry memory of why I need to be anxious for what is just around the bend. I live great in that time and as part of my Cluster-life make sure that down time is spent living life as richly as I can.

But, after having gleaned some really great advice, and having been pushed by people on these boards to stop just lying down and "gutting" out the headaches, but to get of my ass and try and make use of the tools that work for people I feel compelled to see if other people can get something out of these baords.

My life is completely different now that I do the things I learned about here. And the only way others will learn to grasp at some control of these thigns is through hearing about it, from many people on this site. Not just a couple or a few.

We aren't here for a pity party. Yes, there's some days where we might welcome a little sympathy, but deep down the reason many of us are here sharing is that we're fighters. We want to spread the gospel that you don't need to be defined by this affliction --- but that it is part of you and you can help others with your knowledge and experience.

So, stick around for awhile. Help out every once in awhile. So, you're not an expert. sometimes there's just an opportunity to sweep up. Do the dishes, whatever.

Thank you all. I feel compelled to explain myself further. I would be elated if you all coudl have the time off that I have had from this pain. Never was it my intention to come here and put myself in a spot of only being for myself. I would welcome your disapperance from this board IF it meant that you could be pain free if only for a moment in time. I would then feel your pain and share your sorrow if you came back to the board. Thats all I was doing is coming back from a break.
Im am trully sorry if some took my messges s me not caring about each and everyone of you, that is far from the truth. All I can do is let you all judge me as you will ( I have no choice) but you are wrong if you think I dont care.
I will put my 2 cents in where I think it will help and I am always open to talk to any body about anything.

Thanks for your time.. and support.

Bump again.

Stick around, my friend.  I'm also episodic - 3 to 5 years between episodes - but no matter what, I'm here to stay.  I take time off every once in awhile just because I have a life outside of my episodes.  But, each and every day I come here, I'm helping others, as well as strengthening my arsenal for the next battle with the Beast.

Keep posting, and welcome back.
