why any site would ask this if they were not already locked in to your puter?
To me its fucked that they want control of my stuff....or am I wrong on this?

It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

I'm only a dudette, but those options show up on every flash page I've seen (right click, > settings).
I'll admit that the first time I saw it though, it scared the dickens out of me. I thought big brother was after me.

I believe Macromedia made it an option so that you can prevent a site from accessing those devices without your knowledge. Otherwise, say you go to a less than honest site that embedded a flash object on the site to record video and audio from your multimedia devices. If the option of access was left in the hands of the flash oject, you would have little control to stop them. But what if you went to a chat website that has audio and/or video capabilities powered by flash, you'd need a way to grant permission to the site to access your multimedia devices if you choose to use them.
