I went from being Chronic to Eposodic . I use to think that it would be easier, but I am not sure. I have not gotten a pattern since I became Eposodic. I just stopped a cyale a few weeks ago. I figured I would have 6 months to a year befor another attack. Not!
I always try to buy Christmas all year to avoid the Christmas rush. This year it did not happen that way. So Yeaterday. I packed JD in the Car and went to do my Christmas shopping. It took all afternoon and part of the night. Plus I had to get groceries. Well it was cold out. Night had hit and Devny met me to pick up JD and come home. Buddy met me to get a bit to eat before we got groceries. Plus I don't drive well at night so he met me to lead me home. We ate and bought grocerys and headed home. The roads are two lane dark and narrow.
No place to pull over. I am am behind Buddy in my truck and out of no where, no warning what so ever. I got hit and hit hard. It was all I could do to hold the wheel. I saw a church and pulled in. Buddy did not see me turn and my cell phone was DEAD. Buddy finally noticed I was not behind him he turned around. He passed me, but I was in so much pain I did not even see him to flick my lights. He finally found me. I had open the door of the truck to get air and was doing my rocking. We sat in that church yard over a hour befor I was able to drive.
It was scary. I had no meds, and my O2 was here, its a big tank to big to take with me. Plus I wouldn't have anyway since I thought I was over them.
I got back home. Really tired and I just fell over the bed and went to sleep. Wrong thing to do I was up in a hour full blown attack. Thank God I had O2 . IT WORKED!
It was great. I was afraid to go back to sleep so I did get some email done I wanted to do. Plus I cleaned the Den and wash room real good. But I am tired today darn it.
How do we figure our attacks?
I hate not knowing. It was like someone hit me in the head with a rock, that fast that bad of a pain. My eye watered so bad I almost missed the Church.

That is the thing about being episodic. You never know sigh........That has happened to me more than once. Here at my job I am lucky because I work in the hosp and they send me quickly to ER for O2 etc. But on the road holy shit........

Really feel for you Elaine.
I am episodic and have been caught out a few times in the car. Last time, luckily I was only about a mile from home. It felt like fifty miles getting home and could hardly open my left eye, let alone the right that was pounding. Got into serious trouble from the family for even driving like that there was on one around at the time, so it was either rocking the pitch black layby for the next hour and half or going for it 
Hope you get a rhythm sorted soon and you get a good night to night.

When I am going back into it I will usually shadow for a bit... sometimes for a day or two, sometimes for only a few hours... but it is unmistakable and I start popping the meds that moment.
Even though I have avoided a major episode for 18+ months now, I still keep Trex with me most of the time. Both cars, my backpack, my laptop pack, my briefcase, my wifes purse... all have two vials and 4 syringes in them. I came across these perfect little hard eyeglass cases some time ago... ideal size for holding vials and syringes.
Now that I reread that last pargraph I see how obsessive I have become about 'agony avoidance'. Shit.

Horrible situation to get caught with this kind of pain. Being similarly episodic with short pf windows that just wait for me to get lax, inventory checks are routine; an on-the-road abortive in every jacket pocket and a stash in the work sachel.
Not easy with different lifestyles though, maybe keep something safely by the door you'll notice when leaving. A few of those situations made me more conscious of prepared preventive caution. I pay only the interest on the loan for the brain cells I borrowed to maintain, reminders pop up on my computer before work and in the evening daily now.

I can't take Imitrex so I been with meds. But thanks to some wonderful angels I now have o2 and it works when I can get to it. It feels so good to know it is there if I need it.
Frank did you know a snake doesn't have a heart?
I did suck a hack job on tha snake we are still finding parts of it. YUCK Thats what I get for killing something a big cluster attack.

You can take it regardless of heart conditions and it works as quick as trex.

I'm so sorry that you got hit.
I hope that the beast won't be a regular visitor at your house.
I don't know which is worse; not knowing when ch returns or knowing that you'll have them every day in some point. I've had both.
I've had few short and mild reminders since April. I try my best to forget the fact that ch can return any day, but in the meantime I enjoy each PF day I have.

Maybe you should consider getting an E tank...you know with a little wheel cart thingey.
Keep it in your truck....I know it won't hold alot, but it should hold 'nuf to get you thru in an emergency.
