My 1st hat...
« on: Nov 16th, 2005, 12:57pm »

I am so proud!  It's going to be for my infant nephew, Ethan...

So far I've knitted 3 scarves, 1 potholder and now 1 hat. Grin  I am going to be starting a camo afghan for my father-in-law next.  Should take me some time to do it, but that's OK.  I'm hoping to get it done before Christmas for him!

Thank you so much Helen!  I never in my life imagined I could make something like that.  I always admired people who could make clothes & stuff with 2 needles and some yarn.  Amazing!  I am still sorta in disbelief, but am very proud of what I have achieved so far.  I can't help but to share it with everyone!

I never brag about myself, and hope it isn't coming off that way. Embarassed

I am trying to stop smoking and took back up crochet it keeps my hands busy and I don't think about it . Beside once you start you don't want to put it down.

I bet your hat is pertty . Maybe I will get this computer strighen out so I can see it. You are going to have fun.

Sooooooo cute !!! Good job !! My aunt used to crochet and sell things........she did awesome stuff........stuff I have never seen anyone else do !! She did alot of crafty stuff and also crochet'd little teeny things to glue on hand painted cards as flowers and some she would glue two or three on different sizes none bigger then a dime. She had made every note card and sold them in packs. Had blue birds ect on them. And she knitted some kind of kitten that was the coolest thing I ever saw !!!! It had a tiny ball of yard in it's front paws then the rest of the kitten was fluffly and all had white tip tails. I used to make fancy beaded earrings that would take HOURS to make one pair......but my hands went knumb and I had to give that up. I'd be up all nite tryin to finish a pair or two. More or less was Indian hanging style and very intense. I jus don't have the patience for it rite now....I'd LOVE to figure out how to make the kittens. Never seen it done since my great aunt died about 8 years ago. Notta knitter Pam

PS: actually the kittens were made out of yarn somehow but life sized and fluffy cute......they were adorable !! Tryin to figure out how they were made.....had forgot about them till NOW. I had one and it was my favorite for MANY years and carried it everywhere !!! They even looked kinda real....kind of like a coon tail with front arms holding a small ball of yarn with eyes ears and nose and stuff to explain it the best but the entire thing was hand made. Anyone know what I am talkin about or is it a lost art ???

Mel that's great you've seem to have it down cold.If ya run outa ideas to do heres somethings to think of.Nursing homes probably would except knitted slippers to keep their residents feet warm.also charities might be able to give away blankets and winterwear .Also go to your local fire departments and and Red Cross to  see if they wanna give out hats and gloves to people who've had a house fire. Also imagine how comforting it would be for a child going through the  shock of a fire to be handed a woobie to hold.just some suggestions.wish I could knit or crochet.
you have every right to show 0ff your handy work and be proud. You are one knitting fool (in the nicest way   Wink

Mel, that's great. I admire anyone who can knit. I've tried and tried and all I get is a long thingy. I just can't get the hang of it. I can crochet fine, but knitting is too complicated for this old broad. Keep up the good work.....

BTW -- I need some Mickey Mouse golf covers when you get around to it... Wink with ears.....
