I get these things all the time. What's funny is I do NOT have a paypal account. Forward this kind of stuff to spoof@paypal.com so they can track it and maybe even find the scumbags who sent it. I also get things supposedly from e-bay and various banks around the country saying my account is on hold and has to be verifired or is about to expire. e-bay's fraud reporting address is spoof@ebay.com The banks, I usually google them and find their fraud reporting address and forward the e-mails to them. The people that send out this kind of stuff need to be locked in stocks in the town square and their victims be allowed to log into a website and watch them get publicly flogged over the internet. Maybe even have a list of punishment techniques that people can click on watch them being applied. After a reasonable amount of time, take them out and shoot them.

I've been trying to get ahold of you two guys. I recently won $226,000,000.00 in the Liberian Lottery. Can you believe it??? I know, I didn't either until I got my letter from the Liberian Council on Foreign Affairs. My business associates there tell me I won't be able to carry that much cash across the border as it is so dangerous. My own paypal account is under a joint account with my wife and if I put it all in there, she will surely divorce me and take half. If you will allow my associates to split it between your two accounts, and deposit the funds, I will give you both 25 million. This is much cheaper for me this way. If you send me your paypal log in information I will see to it the money is deposited. You can then cash out the account and keep 25 mil for yourselves. Looking forward to a joyous Christmas!!! Even though I'm trusting you with 226 million of MY dollars, if you don't trust me with your paypal account info, I understand. I'd be willing to accept your bank info instead but as the IRS will then take their share based upon the larger amount, there wouldn't be much left for us to split. If you send me your paypal info, you're actually saving 12 million. Although I prefer not to do it this way, I will do it this way if you insist.)

Don't forget the e-mails from Barrister so and so from Nigeria who want you to pose as a dead man's next of kin and will give you XXX million dollars for your troubles. What's bad is you know hundreds or even thousands of people fall for this crap every day. 'Tis a sad world we live in.

Pay Pal is starting to worry me too. They want me to get "verified" by giving them my bank account numbers. Why, They've got one credit card number which I use for them, and that's all they're going to get. Last transaction I had, they took the money from my credit card on 10/31, but the seller claims they didn't transfer the money to him until 11/7. ???? Is that typical? Sandy

Yep, Sandy - that is a typical timeframe for transferring funds from Paypal. The seller has to actually log in and manually activate the transfer and then will get a message that it can take 5 - 7 days for it to be finalized. We have a Paypal account at OUCH Canada and we've had it take that long and longer for the funds to eventually reach our bank. I got the same email this morning from "paypal". ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS, read the link that is printed in your address bar before you proceed!! Even if it says www.paypal.com (or some other recognized site), and you click it - the wording will be different for these scammers. I went into our paypal account this morning and our original address is still there, untouched. But I got the same address as noted above in this thread - some bumyang guy. Makes you wonder, though, how many folks fall for it. The screen that comes up is startingly similar to the paypal homepage. But there ARE differences - so don't fall for it!

NEVER use the link that is in a paypal email. Always type in the address www.paypal.com and then log in. Paypal does not send emails to "paypal member" any official email I've gotten from paypal had my name in it. These are 2 tips you can use to avoid the thousands of paypal scams out there. As a general rule, never give out personal information for something unless YOU initiated the transaction. Cat

I received my order from the, absolutely what I ordered, AutoCad software, brand new, can be registered, so no problems. Seller said, use PayPal. I did. As soon as I won the auction, seller e-mailed me asking me to send a money order instead. Duh! PayPal aready had my money, what the hell am I supposed to do now? But, seller kept e-mailing me that he had not received funds from PayPal, Seller e-mailed that he will never use PayPal again??? so I am crapping my pants because I now had over $600.00 already put on my credit card and seller is telling me he doesn't have the money! Where was it??? Thank God, the transaction finally went through OK and I am satisfied. But, I'm very wary about ever using PayPal again. Was it PayPal, or just the seller giving me a hard time? Who knows?

Nuther wierd scarey thing makeing me want to never deal with paypal or similar stuff again is I got an email supposidly from paypal saying my account needed updated with a link.......I did update but not from the link. But the link also had my last four digit credit card numbers listed on it. That freaked me out !!!! So after I updated I tried to pay for sumthing and the link thru 'pay it now' off ebay said I needed to add a credit card to my account so I could continue to use paypal ! Huh ?? I notified paypal and they kept geiven me bogus answers and they jus didn't seem to get what I was asking. Why if I am updated and they have all my info do they WANT my info again acting as if they never had it. I hadn't used it in months so dunno if it expired ? Never had that happen before and don't even use it that much. But you have to get verified if you reach your spending they allow they say. Which makes no sense to me. I guess you can still get around it and jus pay by credit card with alot of sellers. But I'm not even goin that route anymore. Have had buyers tell me they had to have my numbers.....had to do that when I bought some dogs from a breeder in Alabama shipped up here too and it made me nervous. Would be SO EASY to screw someone. Paypal scares me with the crap I been gettin with too much info from the spoofer's........esp part of my credit card number!!! No more pals with pay pal Pam

I get paypal spoof stuff now and then but then I never open it from the email. It's always been crap. I've never had a paypal problem and I've been thanked by ebay for asking about it. I get spoof ebay almost weekly. Charlie
