http://www.snopes.com/language/document/hiringwomen.asp I love the quote..."also reveals whether the employee-to-be has any female weaknesses which would make her mentally or physically unfit for the job."... What's a Female Weakness LOL... Remember ladies...Jimmy is only the messenger and thought the article outdated and ridiculous...but humorous, nonetheless...so all flames should be sent elsewhere...

I personally LOVE this one: A girl has more confidence and consequently is more efficient if she can keep her hair tidied, apply fresh lipstick and wash her hands several times a day. I simply CAN'T fix the printer, copier, fax machine, carry large 50lb boxes of metal signs, cartons of paper, or break down a $17,000 advertising bill if my hair isn't tidied or my lipstick freshly applied!

"While there are exceptions, of course, to this rule, general experience indicates that "husky" girls — those who are just a little on the heavy side — are likely to be more even-tempered and efficient than their underweight sisters." Guess this is why i'm so jolly and efficient at work... Glad to see lots of things have changed for women in the workplace since 1943. Langa

"Most transportation companies have found that older women who have never contacted the public, have a hard time adapting themselves, are inclined to be cantankerous and fussy. It's always well to impress upon older women the importance of friendliness and courtesy. " Cantankerous and fussy?! What the HELL does THAT mean ..how about STFU

You know, the funny thing is, I started working in the 50s and nobody told me that women were discriminated against and I just didn't pay any attention - just went on about my merry way, got promotions and all that, just worked and learned. Then in the 70s all the hullaballoo about women's rights (and yeah some things needed changing, but it went way too far - I burned my bra and no one even noticed) and we lost more than we gained I think. Heck, I always got paid what I "asked" for cause I was worth it and I "earned" it. And as far as "sexual harrasment" went - hell, I "graded" it instead of reporting it. Mama always told me that when men quit making passes is when you start to worry.... But we lost a lot of "respect" that we had before we "demanded" it. I liked the days when men opened doors and lit our cigarettes (well, when we smoked) and treated us like ladies (some still do but they're getting fewer and further between). Guess the old saying, "Be careful what you wish for - you might get it." is true..... Hugs BD
