what are you listening to this week ?me ya gotta listen to the music but the lyrics are great give them a try Minnie ------------------------------------------------------------------ Artist : Jamie O'Neal Song : Somebody's Hero Lyrics : She's never pulled anyone from a burning building She's never rocked Central Park to a half a million fans, screaming out her name She's never hit a shot to win the game She's never left her footprints on the moon She's never made a solo hot air balloon ride, around the world, No, she's just your everyday average girl (but) She's somebody's hero A hero to her baby with a skinned up knee A little kiss is all she needs The keeper of the cheerios The voice that brings Snow White to life Bedtime stories every night And that smile lets her know She's somebody's hero She didn't get a check every week like a nine-to fiver But she's been a waiter, and a cook and a taxi driver For twenty years, there at home, until the day her girl was grown Giving all her love to her was her life's ambition But now her baby's movin' on, and she'll soon be missin' her But not today, those are tears of joy runnin' down her face She's somebody's hero A hero to her daughter in her wedding dress She gave her wings to leave the nest It hurts to let her baby go down the aisle she walks right by Looks back into her mother's eyes And that smile lets her know She's somebody's hero Thirty years have flown right past Her daughters' starin' at all the photographs Of her mother, and she wishes she could be like that Oh, but she already is She's somebody's hero A hero to her mother in a rockin' chair She runs a brush through her silver hair The envy of the nursing home She drops by every afternoon Feeds her mama with a spoon And that smile lets her know Her mother's smile lets her know She's somebody's hero ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Artist: Terri Clark Song: She Didn't Have Time Lyrics : He said goodbye from the edge of the porch like she'd been some casual friend he said "your better off with out me i'm not what you need" like her momma had said about him he started the car pulled out of the drive didn't waste any time lookin' back she watched him go thinkin' even a stranger would show more compassion than that she could've cried but she didn't have time she had a baby to feed a pink blanket to find to rock their little one to sleep she could've laid in bed for hours giving misery the power but she didn't have time she got a sitter, she got a job 'cause she had a promise to keep her day was a factory and evening survival at night was exhaustion and sleep sometimes she felt life was passing her by and watching was all she could do her friends said "you gotta get outta the house and maybe you'll meet someone new" she could've tried but she didn't have time she had a five year old to feed she had ballet class, piano lessons and t-ball little league she could've laid awake for hours giving lonely nights the power but she didn't have the time not time where would she find the time to trust a man again not time for that flat tire a crowded parking lot and then not time to just have coffee with the man who got her tired fixed she was thinking gosh he's handsome when he asked do you have kids she could've lied but she didnt have time all she said was "she's five" he said "i saw the car seat I love kids does she have your eyes?" and they sat and talked for hours giving destiny it's power she could've been afraid to fall in love that night but she didn't have time she could've been afraid to fall in love that night but she didn't have time

me again heres more of what I'm listening towhat are you listening to this week ?me ya gotta listen to the music but the lyrics are great give them a try Minnie Artist : Kelly Clarkson Title : Because Of You Album : Breakaway I will not make the same mistakes that you did I will not let myself Cause my heart so much misery I will not break the way you did, You fell so hard I've learned the hard way To never let it get that far Because of you I never stray too far from the sidewalk Because of you I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt Because of you I find it hard to trust not only me, but everyone around me Because of you I am afraid I lose my way And it's not too long before you point it out I cannot cry Because you know that's weakness in your eyes I'm forced to fake A smile, a laugh everyday of my life My heart can't possibly break When it wasn't even whole to start with Because of you I never stray too far from the sidewalk Because of you I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt Because of you I find it hard to trust not only me, but everyone around me Because of you I am afraid I watched you die I heard you cry every night in your sleep I was so young You should have known better than to lean on me You never thought of anyone else You just saw your pain And now I cry in the middle of the night For the same damn thing Because of you I never stray too far from the sidewalk Because of you I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt Because of you I try my hardest just to forget everything Because of you I don't know how to let anyone else in Because of you I'm ashamed of my life because it's empty Because of you I am afraid Because of you Because of you ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Artist: Carrie Underwood (American Idol 2005) Song: Jesus, Take The Wheel Lyrics : She was driving last Friday on her way to Cincinnati On a snow white Christmas Eve Going home to see her Mama and her Daddy with the baby in the backseat Fifty miles to go and she was running low on faith and gasoline It would been a long hard year She had a lot on her mind and she didn't pay attention She was going way to fast Before she knew it she was spinning on a thin black sheet of glass She saw both their lives flash before her eyes She didn't even have time to cry She was sooo scared She threw her hands up in the air Jesus take the wheel Take it from my hands Cause I can't do this all on my own I'm letting go So give me one more chance To save me from this road I'm on Jesus take the wheel It was still getting colder when she made it to the shoulder And the car came to a stop She cried when she saw that baby in the backseat sleeping like a rock And for the first time in a long time She bowed her head to pray She said I'm sorry for the way I've been living my life I know I've got to change So from now on tonight Jesus take the wheel Take it from my hands Cause I can't do this all my own I'm letting go So give me one more chance To save me from this road I'm on Oh, Jesus take the wheel Oh, I'm letting go So give me one more chance Save me from this road I'm on From this road I'm on Jesus take the wheel Oh, take it, take it from me Oh, why, oh ------------------------------------------------------------------

Einherjer - Dragons of the North 1996 Especially the stunning 'Dreamstorm' track. Where does stuff like this come from? A two-fist of Type O Negative: Bloody Kisses (especially the clever 'We Hate Everyone') and the supremely ethereal October Rust. These guys are songwriting genius. I guess this means I'm uncool? --- Steve

Ok, on the way home from Karate I was listening to The Pus*sycat Dolls with their new song "Don't Cha". Then I threw in some Aerosmith to listen to the rest of the way home. Guess my taste in music varies on what's playing. Lately though, it's been a lot of, um, sensual songs. And I'm not talking about the slow ones either. I hate it when music is slow except for Pink Floyd. Oh boy. I need to get ****.

Sorry BUT... always been the odd man out on this one - TYPE O NEGATIVE - WORLD COMING DOWN Is their absolute BEST! With Bloody Kisses being 2nd! (Got real fucking scared when I found out my niece was interested in them....sorry - would rather her listen to some of the senseless shit she does like "FALL OUT POSER BOY" or that Jonathan?Aaron - something or other... than Type - O - she isn;t ready for that. Trying to turn her on to Radiohead right now.) Oddly enough, I have listened to little music this week until yesterday. My brain processing made Metallica seem like Lawrence Welk this week, and NO ONE needs THAT! Addicted to the beautiful hypnotic (think U2, Coldplay, yet more smooooooooth) Aqualung - Strange and Beautiful I've not heard a better perfectly balanced album like this in a long time. All day though, I am listening to comedy rather than music. I just discovered someone who was so brilliant, twisted and perverse, he may have been the Gen X answer to Lenny Bruce, though listening to his rants right now 11 years posthumous - I am so dumbfounded how I never heard this stuff before! It is no wonder. He was ANTI-GOVERNMENT-ORGANIZED HYPOCRITCAL RELIGION- and PRO DRUG. He was big on the enlightenment of the use of psilocybin and the legalization of Marijuana - the dangers of the most abused yet legal DRUG alcohol. All of these things I am convinced kept BILL HICKS from being bigger than Dice Clay or Denis Leary (who, once caught ripping off Bill Hick's stuff Bill said live "That is okay. In all honesty I ripped him off but just to be clever and not get caught I did the act several years before him." - just one of his biting ironies. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer after having been ill a short time, and died in February of 1994. Many bands have tributed his work (and I never knew that the intro to TOOL - THIRD EYE is actually one of his routines which evloves into him talking about "The Beatles were so high man, they even let Ringo sing a couple of songs." Almost pissed myself listening to this: http://media.putfile.com/Bill-Hicks---Drugs-Have-Done-Good-Things Radiohead dedicated the album "The Bends" to Bill, and many other artist tributes to yet another fine genuis robbed too soon at age 32. Guess the aliens finally left Fife, Alabama and picked you up eh Bill? Welcome back to the mothership! Peace, Carl A word of warning. Bill Hicks said some pretty vile things, and would go on rants where he spoke his soul - but having listened to enough of his work now, I understand his viewpoints. I don't agree with alot of hit, but man - some of it is pure genius!

Terry Kelly - A Pittance of Time The song: http://webpages.charter.net/bedub/time.wmv The Story: http://www.army.forces.gc.ca/chief_land_staff/remembrance/English/Home.a sp The Lyrics: A Pittance Of Time 4:43 Written by Terry Kelly © Jefter Publishing - SOCAN They fought and some died for their homeland. They fought and some died, now it's our land. Look at his little child; there's no fear in her eyes. Could he not show respect for other dads who have died? Take two minutes, would you mind? It's a pittance of time, For the boys and the girls who went over. In peace may they rest, may we never forget why they died. It's a pittance of time. God forgive me for wanting to strike him. Give me strength so as not to be like him. My heart pounds in my breast, fingers pressed to my lips, My throat wants to bawl out, my tongue barely resists. But two minutes I will bide. It's a pittance of time, For the boys and the girls who went over. In peace may they rest. May we never forget why they died. It's a pittance of time. Read the letters and poems of the heroes at home. They have casualties, battles, and fears of their own. There's a price to be paid if you go, if you stay. Freedom's fought for and won in numerous ways. Take two minutes, would you mind? It's a pittance of time, For the boys and the girls all over. May we never forget, our young become vets. At the end of the line, It's a pittance of time. It takes courage to fight in your own war. It takes courage to fight someone else's war. Our peacekeepers tell of their own living hell. They bring hope to foreign lands that hate mongers can't kill. Take two minutes, would you mind? It's a pittance of time, For the boys and the girls who go over. In peacetime our best still don battle dress And lay their lives on the line. It's a pittance of time In peace may they rest, Lest we forget why they died. Take a pittance of time. Cat Freedom isn't Free

Jonny, Best voice? Hmmm, OK, but I'd go with Van Morrison (not rock?, blue eyed soul? works for me). Best rock singer? Name is Jagger. Another guy named Lennon just might fit the bill. Wanna expand your horizons? Just pure music? Go with the Mills Brothers or Bob Wills (cuz with apologies, Bob Wills is STILL the king). Rock on, Jon

I'm sure one day I'll listen to something other than Kate Bush's new album, but it may take a while... sheer poetry! I'll be a butthead and post lyrics to one song: A Coral Room - Kate Bush There's a city, draped in net Fisherman net And in the half light, in the half light It looks like every tower Is covered in webs Moving and glistening and rocking Its babies in rhythm As the spider of time is climbing Over the ruins There were hundreds of people living here Sails at the windows And the planes came crashing down And many a pilot drowned And the speedboats flying above Put your hand over the side of the boat What do you feel? My mother And her little brown jug It held her milk And now it holds our memories I can hear her singing "Little brown jug, how I love thee" "Little brown jug, how I love thee" Ho ho ho, hee hee hee I hear her laughing She is standing in the kitchen As we come in the back door See it fall See it fall Oh little spider climbing out of a broken jug And the pieces will lay there a while In a house draped in net In a room filled with coral Sails at the window Forests of masts Put your hand over the side of the boat Put your hand over the side of the boat What do you feel?
