This is not a commentary on my opinion of the war. Just something I saw on the front page today. 2,000 total # of US military deaths in Operation Iraqi Freedom 1,846 # who've died since the President declared an end to major combat 68 percent of dead who were in the Army 25 percent of dead who were in the National Guard or reserves 1 percent of dead who were in the Air Force These are just US military numbers. Many, many more have died. Pray for peace, everyone.

and what are we getting for all this? It was a bad mistake and it was made for all the wrong reasons. George and Dick and their families and friends are getting rich while the rest of us are being gouged. Any idea of how much harm was done to our reputation internationally? Will anyone ever hold Bush/Republicans accountable? SAD!

| And there is something inherently wrong with ensuring the freedom of the oil trade on which the industrial economies (both yours and mine) depend? Defending commerce is not a dishonorable cause. Upholding the international principal of economic freedom best serves our interests in the long run. A proper government upholds the interests of its citizens (and economics is a vital one) in its conduct toward other nations. Hirvimaki-Isi

No, the price is controlled by supply and demand. The US invasion in the middle east along with actual increased demand has caused prices to rise. The saudis can only get however much someone wants to pay. Just like in the stockmarket, unrest or uncertainty is a bad thing. BMonee

| Oh yeah, and as far as accountability is concerned, how about the U.N. Kofi Annon's son was directly involved in the corrupt oil for food program with Saddam. All of the resolutions passed by the U.N. that Saddam thumbed his nose at. It doesn't matter really does it, this country is divided and will remain that way forever because that is what the politicians want, they have you right where they want you.

| Type Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan house into your Google. 2000 (yep thousand) rooms. It's wonderfil what $2.70 a gallon gas will buy. He's the former president of United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi. If you have dial up connection forget it. The house is too big. It would take a hour to load.

2,000 dead, enough said. Politics and pontificating won't bring them back. Pray for the widows and the children and those who remain in harms way. Soldiers serve to defend our right to disagree and to vote. Don't waste it. Vote, demonstrate, speak your mind, use the press, and pray. Those are all freedoms we have because of people who serve. This particular war may or may not seem acceptable to you. The individuals who have died are not responsible for it. Every Wednesday a group of women in our community wear black and stand together in silent vigil for those lost. We pray for peace. I served, and retired from, the US Air Force. Those of us who have served, and have seen war first hand, know the cost. 2000 dead. Enough.

| I did serve and support this war, for the humanitarian effect alone. People everywhere should be free. Hell, freedom should be something everyone gets a chance to taste. And those that don't appreciate it, should get it taken away, because it is too precious a commodity to waste.

WoW Just take your eye off the ball one second. Look we agree that first and foremost basic human rights come first. We support the worst of the worst when it comes to leaders treat their people. China, Saudi Arabia, UAE, the list goes on. We support these people by buying their oil and other products. We turn a blind eye when we buy cheaper textiles from China in Walmart. The UN turned a blind eye to Bosnia,Sudan,Etheopia,Iraq, the list goes on while ethnic cleansing and mass genocide and envonmental genocide was going on and they all new it. We should all be spanked. The inhumanity of humanity makes me want to puke. We should look for more common large issues to rally behind instead of infighting about details of yesterday. There I said it, Dont mean to offend. jb

Whoa, I've never been called a liberal before. Praying for peace is something I do because I have two sons. Our family has a long history of military service, and I served proudly. I would rather, as a mom, not see either of my sons go to war. Just a mom thing I guess-not liberal. If they have to go, I want them to kick butt, and never have their hands tied like my Dad's were in Vietnam. On the other hand-watching women casting ballots in an election after years of having to hide their faces...seeing schools and places of worship and restraunts opened...Freedom, costly, and yeah, a human need. IMHO kathy
