Get outta town!!! I'm sure there are others in the general vicinity of Fort Myers, Sarasota/Bradenton, etc...
I just got off the phone with my grandparents and my grandma gave me an extensive list of all the supplies they have gotten. They're looking to go up to Ocala or possibly even into Georgia.
I don't know about my cousins in Sarasota yet. My great-aunt is in Clearwater and going to my aunt's place in Tampa.
This is one hell of a scary storm! I'm probably late in giving warnings as I'm sure there's a thread on this somewhere, but I haven't been around much the past few days and after watching news reports and speaking with my family, I had to come talk to my other family here!!
Please God don't let Wilma wipe out Siesta Key or else we'll lose everything... 
And Please God let all of our friends in Florida stay safe!!!

Well we are still in the waiting stage right now, if we go we are not going to leave until Friday sometime...
We got supplies we need, and all the Dogs & Cats are taken care of for now...
Putting to plywood up tonight after work, it only takes about an hour, I have everything ready, as you know in Fla. we are always ready, well as ready as we can be...
Well will post as long as we have power this weekend, the only thing that I do not have that I wish we did was a Generator, we just never can get enough extra CASH to get one, but other than that we are good.
We are far enough away from the Beach and the Storm Surge, just worried about the wind and the trees around us, the House is solid, built back in the 60's, the walls are poured concrete and the roof was redone about 10 years ago.
Just Pray for Us and the others that are in the Path of it.

Did you get any medication refills in place? Bottled water? Batteries? First aid kit? Any nonperishable food items?
I'm gonna be worrying all weekend if you decide to stay!!!
My grandparents are planning to leave tomorrow. They filled the gas in their car and also their neighbors car who isn't down there right now. My grandma said if they get back and can't get gas in their own car, then they can drive Jeanne's.

I'd be scared shitless.....course wasn't it me that had a total meltdown I am just now gettin over when power lines next to the house went down not long ago and exploded for about 15 minutes first......sissy me......but man a storm like that would cause more then one of them to go down and I'd be in a panic state hearin one crash of anything. I'm not used to them kinda storms like some of ya are........you guys are brave and just hopein you and your stuff stays safe......hope the critters don't get too scared either !!! We have a generator now after the winter storms last year that did alot of damage and power was out. Hope no one gets any damage and gets thru fine and dandy !!!!! Scarty cat coots

We will hit the road if we have to, but right now they are talking that it will be well south of us, we are in for some rain & wind.. see what happens!!

I'll probably be locked down at the hospital I work for. It's only about a year old and built like a fort. My kids and grandchildren will be staying in North Port at the new high school which can also stand up to a cat. 5. This is not a very wide storm and if it hits between Ft. Myers and Naples like they are predicting, we should be more than safe.

Well here is the 4am update...
It gonna be a big storm, but they expect it to lose alot of steam by the time it reaches Fla.
Plenty of people are leaving, took me almost 2 hours to get home yesterday from work, everything north was backed up. So it looks like the people in South Fla took the advice and left.
Iam at work today, I think only for half a day.. So I will post more when I get home today..

In late Spring, a smaller hurricane hit Cancun/Cozumel. I pm'd him about the diving at the Palancar reef being murky after a hurricane for a long time. He said he would just go south to Belize then. Maybe he drove there for safety, it is well below the eye in the picture. But getting a flight out of the area back home may be difficult now, unless he was able to leave early.

Oh no! I do hope Frank got out of there....
My grandparents aren't going all the way up to Ocala anymore. They're leaving tomorrow or Sunday and going to Orlando. They weren't able to get a place to stay up north until they got like 40 miles below Atlanta, and they didn't want to go that far. So they'll be heading to Orlando for safety.

Well we just got done Boarding up the windows, don't really know what to expect with this one, just thought we would be safe and do it. They are not sure yet with this thing moving this slow where its going to hit. The National Media keeps saying its going to hit Naples, but the Local Media says they are not sure yet, they have like 4 computers saying its going to hit further North, From Tampa Bay to Bradenton (Where we live), Hell they keep saying they are not even sure how strong it will be.. Well we are ready for it.
Carrie, glad to see your Granparents got out ok, but just advise them to keep watching the news, yesterday they were thinking this thing might go up to other coast on its way out to sea.. Sorry, I don't mean to make you nervous, just want you to be informed...
Well we are now starting to get the Rains from the Feeder Bands already from the storm, so looks like its going to be a wet week ahead... We will try to keep everyone posted...

I can not promise we will have an answer for everyone, but we will make sure that all needs are met, one way or the other, I know how hard things are before & after..

Hi All.. Well we are still holding in there, but the cable is already coming and going... don't know why yet, but thought I'd get one more post in before the hit....
Here is the latest on the storm, they are saying we are going to get about 40 to 50 mph winds, with gust's up to 70 mph, from late tonight to later tomarrow.... its going to make landfall about 100 miles south of us.. actually its going to get closer when it exit's the state..
They have started a low level evacuation for our county, which means that everyone in low laying area's and mobile homes are asked to go to shelters.. we are all boarded up and getting sand bags for the doors and Ice for the Fridge....
We are Praying for everyone in the path of this thing,
I will try to post a little later, but if we are not on, you know we lost power, it does not take much here to lose power as I said before...

Well they didn't leave. Supposedly now they'll be leaving tomorrow and staying first at a place near Bee Ridge and 75. Then maybe heading out somewhere by my cousins which is past Sarasota Square Mall (I think...but actually, I forget cuz they moved a couple times...!)
This storm is so wacky.....
Tell Jolene I'm sorry I didn't get back to her PM but thanks for the offer to let them stay there!! I've been hopping around 'homes' as it's the weekend and I'm off until tomorrow night.
