She is on heart medication and two of the many symptoms she suffers are cluster headaches (tiny migraines lasting from a few minutes to an hour) and chronic fatigue, which creates a need for her to take frequent naps This crap came out of this article... http://www.dailytidings.com/2005/1017/101705back.shtml Nice.

I think the tiny reporter likes the word tiny a tiny bit too much. Of course, that tiny problem isn't as important as the total lack of research required to describe CH as a migraine, tiny or no. Gotta love the incompetence of the tiny media. PFDAN........................................ Drk^Angel

tiny migraines and tiny naps sounds like a tiny misdiagnosis to me - naps and clusters are two words that don't go in any sentence I know

Dear Mr. Green, I read your article covering the triumphs of Kara Quinn, the young lady with Graves’ disease. While I applaud your sensitivity to her struggles and your ability to help the reader understand the difficulties she has faced and overcome, I must point out what to me and many others is a major misunderstanding. You mentioned that one of Kara’s symptoms are cluster headaches which, as you put it, are TINY migraines lasting a few minutes to an hour. As a cluster headache patient, I can say with 100% certainty, you are very wrong. Cluster headaches are not migraines, and are NOT tiny in any way. They are one of the worst kinds of pain known to man, and are so horrific that they are referred to by physicians as “suicide headaches”. I am currently “in cycle”, meaning, my headache cycle has begun and I am looking forward to 3 to 4 months of excruciating pain. My headaches will come 3 to 8 times a day. I have no medication specifically for clusters. There is none. Cluster patients have to rely on what is available for migraine sufferers, and that is inadequate and ineffective at best. Since you were so interested in reporting on struggles, trials, and triumphs of human spirit over adversity, please check our www.clusterheadaches.com. There you will find a wealth of information on this affliction, the truly debilitating effects it has- not the TINY migraine you stated. I hope that you will report on this problem in the same compassionate and sensitive style and enlighten your readers to what many cluster patients must deal with. We desperately need the attention in the media, so that funding will be made toward finding a cause and one day, finding a cure. Very Sincerely, Jennifer Donald

Thank you, here is his response. Perhaps Kara doesn't have clusters- just heard the term and applied it herself, not knowing what they actually are. ********************* Dear Jen, I appreciate your clarification. Please understand that the article was written to reflect Kara's perspective, not my own. She described her cluster headaches in the manner written in the article. Since I am blessed to have never experienced such trauma, I have no concept of it outside of how it was described to me. Nevertheless, I certainly do sympathize with both her and your suffering and daily struggle with what must be a most horrible malady. Thank you again for the clarification. I do feel enlightened about this issue. Mike Green Content Editor Ashland Daily Tidings

If someone has CH and describes it as a tiny migraine - they have never been beyond a kip3-4. When mine first started, they weren't real strong. However, with each new cycle the beast grew into a monster beyond anything I've ever known. If anyone were to tell me that I get TINY migraines I might respond with "Okay, then let me poke you with this tiny needle" and whip out a sword! Jennifer - AWESOME responding letter!!! Peace, Carl D
