PS:...update......well one of these links took me to THERE web site area with chirpractor info under diagnoseing cluster headaches. So can just imagine where these other words/links are goin to take me for my reading pleasure. Sumone needs to change that pic of the chick at the top on the web page usein that pillow accurately that is good with pics......she needs a red eye.....viens sticking out of her head and whatever else goes with it as she lays there haveing a nice and neat attack for the camera.

I'm so excited to be getting rid of my CH and my Migraines.... And to think a PILLOW can do it all..... (of course the fine print says I need massage therapy and some peppermint and lavendar oils - just to be on the safe side).

I have a pillow very similar to that one and it works great for neck pain. The only time I ever use it is when my neck is hurting and I'm NOT in cycle.
When I am in cycle, this pillow works as more of a trigger than anything. I don't know why it does but, if I'm in cycle, sleeping on this pillow makes it worse.

when i went the chiropractor route I remember the chiro telling me that in addition to what he was doing in the office that one of these great pillows would really help with the curvature of my spinal cord and augment his efforts adjusting my neck and so forth.
i bought one.
it's nice but it didn't do boo for my headaches.
Looks as though in this one you could just hand your head off the side the bed and accomplish the same thing.

Nobody knows exactly what causes cluster headaches, not you, not me, not anyone. People can only offer educated guesses based on their research or experiences. There are probably many causes of cluster headaches, and I have done enough research to have formed an opinion that some cluster headaches are caused by neck problems. I sincerely believe that.
Some researches may see an end result, such as a lesion for example, in a certain area, and then form the opinion that this lesion is the cause of the symptoms. And surely, this could very well be. But what causes the lesion? If you trace it all back to the beginning it may very well be that the lesion is caused by nerve interference to the area of lesion.
If I may I would like to give you some information from my perspective. The pain of a cluster headache usually begins in, around, or above the eye or the temple, but occasionally in the face, neck, ear, or hemi cranium (Sutherland and Eadie, 1972). My question is “why do think some cluster headaches might begin in the neck?”
In approximately 70 percent of patients with cluster headaches, the carotid artery is palpably tender at several points in the neck (Raskin and Prusiner, 1977). Do you think it might be possible that this “neck symptom” of a cluster headache patient could mean that the neck had something to do with the headache?

“A transitory, partial Horner's syndrome (pupillary miosis and lid ptosis) occurs in two-thirds of patients when they are examined during attacks (Ekbom, 1970a) and is a useful sign in the differential diagnosis of facial pain. It is highly characteristic of the cluster headache syndrome and, after repeated occurrences, it may become a permanent feature (Riley and Moyer, 1971; Nieman and Hurwitz, 1961).”
“The localization of the sympathetic lesion is of some interest. The ocular sympathetic innervation is a three-neuron pathway, comprising a first-order neuron: posterolateral hypothalamus to cord levels of C8 to T3 (the ciliospinal center of Budge); a second-order neuron: (preganglionic) ciliospinal center to super cervical ganglion; and a third-order neuron: (post-ganglionic) superior cervical ganglion to the pupillary dilator muscle, the eyelid muscles, and the facial sweat glands. It is believed by many observers that in cluster headache, involvement of the third-order neuron accounts for Horner's syndrome, which occurs as the result of distention of the wall of the internal carotid artery in the carotid canal, thus compressing the sympathetic plexus that invests the carotid wall.”
