I'm 24 years old. And last night at 1:00 in the morning I called my Mom as I was balled up in the bathroom crying with a cold pack on my head. I guess at the end of the day when things get bad I just want my Mommy. I am just so incredibly glad that you guys know what it's like. These damn things are a walk in hell. And I'm really glad that I don't have a gun in my apartment. -Kim

Yeah, BMonnee, I have meds...taking Lithium, Verap, and Inderal. I am running low on Trex injections, so I was gonna try to ride it out...not a good idea.

Hey Kimmee. I never heard of the inderal helping clusters. Verapimil yes, and they are similar drugs. Be careful with mixing the verapimil and inderal (propranolol). They both should reduce your heart rate and if you are taking enough, it could make your heart slow down too much, causing you to pass out. I got O2 by going to a doc and demanding it. They probably use a DME (durable medical equipment)company to distribute and deal with home delivery logistics. Tell your doc you need a variable regulator that goes all the way up to 15lpm. Thats very important. Im sure the doc will balk, cause thats a lot of O2, most people havent even heard of taking that much O2. But get it. Along with that, tell the DME people you need a non-rebreather bag with a mask. (although i dont use a mask, just suck directly out of the bag). O2 works well for lots of people. Hopefully it will work for you. If the doc says its too much O2, or wont even give you o2, you need to press them, demand it and demand that they learn a thing or 2 about your condition before they tell you what you can and can not have. When can you get more Trex? You have seen the imitrex tip on the left side menu here <-------------? I just get it in syrenge and vial form anyway. PF wishes BMonee

| I know all about mixing the drugs, heard that many times. And I never asked my new doc about the O2. I know that it helps a lot of you and I know that I should. And I do use the Imitrex tip. Thank you!

Kim, don't be shy with the doc. Tell him you want oxygen and that you want it at 15lpm via non-rebreather mask. Here is something to take to him to show him that the high flow rate is justified in ch treatment. If he still balks, then it's time for a new doc. A doc who thinks he knows everything and can't learn a new trick is worthless. http://www.chhelp.org/mhni.html Best wishes for some much deserved pf time. Mike

Hang in there KD, and don't be afraid to post if you run out of trex. I am glad you could call your mother. Many of us have family members who don't understand, or worse think we are faking. Opus/Paul

| Kimmie, I'm so sorry that the beast is torturing you so strongly right now... I do agree with Paul: it's great that your mom can offer you the support you need. I think that's just wonderful. I'm 25 and I do wish that my mother could be more suportive when she sees me during a hit. So don't worry about your age. We need our closeones during the moment we're in pain, it's natural.
