Picture viewer ?

Hey all, I recently took everything off my computer and had to start from square one. Now i don't have any programs to view pictures. I used to us ACDSee, but they want $49.95 to download it. Is there anything out there that can be downloaded for FREE. It can be simple, just something to view pics with.

Go to http://www.versiontracker.com They have a bunch of choices there - both freeware and shareware. I run a Mac so I do not know how to advise you on the best one. Dan

I'm surprised again and again and again that people don't use the worlds best viewer, that is absolutely free with no strings attached: Irfanview You can set up Irfanview so that your pictures fill the screen, no more scrolling to look at bed sheet sized pictures. Some simple editing is possible: Resizing (useful for not blowing up browser windows, color- and contrast adjustment, sharpen, red eye correction, etc. It is the only viewer I know that shows animated .gif's in animation. You can create a thumbnail gallery of your pictures. You can create a slide show with your pictures. It can convert picture formats. Irfanview also shows many movie types and can play sounds. And unlike M$ stuff, it doesn't mess with the registry. If you don't like it any longer, just delete the files and it's gone without a trace. Download it today from http://www.irfanview.com/ Ueli

| The GIMP is great for EDITING pictures - similar to photoshop but free. But that rascal is slow to load and not a good tool for viewing or organizing collections of images (or am I missing the secret features? . I like picasa, but plan on checking out IrfanView.

| In my opinion, the Gimp is a replacement for Photoshop. I use gThumb on Linux as a replacement for Irfanview. It does the same basic photo editing and has the forward/back browse buttons to quickly view images in a folder. Opus/Paul
