No meat in the freezer yet.

I've had 6 buck and 4 doe in bow range with two good shot opportunities - which is excellent given temps. have been reaching the 80's here and the woods are still really thick.

Early season mistakes have cost me.

Came to full draw on an aggressive eight point @ 15 yards.  Tried to stop his movement with a quick burp but only scared the crap out of him.  He actually fell down trying to get away - guess he thought a rival had somehow managed to get position on him.  I was laughing so hard I couldn't have taken a shot even if he came back into range.

Had another really wide eight point sneaking along  a ridge @ less than 10 yards.  Was out of position for a shot and when I tried to get in position I knocked the arrow off the rest.  He stopped but soon relaxed so I continued getting into position but knocked the arrow off the rest again (was attemting to get into a kneeling position on a tree stand).  He wasn't buying it after the second tink, ran down-wind and spent the next 10 minutes snorting at me from a distance.

Need to iron out the kinks in the 6 weeks of bow season, right now I've just been educating deer.

I went out the last 2 evenings just to sit and watch. I don't even bother taking the bow until the leaves are down.

The Daring Adventures of Sir Chuckles

Once there was a country of Oslovia where King Svenn and Queen Bente...

wished to live in peace in their palacial manor...

But word from afar brought news of the evil Sir Chuckles on his way to Oslovia to rule it for himself.  For he had heard of the nightlife in the land of the midnight sun and the lap dances in Lappland.

King Svenn sent for his finest guards to stand loyally at the palace doors...

The high court of Oslovia were convened and King Svenn led a brainstorming of ideas to defeat Sir Chuckles and write the ideas on the board.
After 48 minutes of silence, King Svenn thought it better to learn about his American foe by watching "King of the Hill" coming on in 5 minutes, they adjorned...

Upon conclusion of the half hour episode, King Svenn realized what he was up against and was veeerrrrry worried...

Meanwhile... Sir Chuckles was plotting with his bravest warriors dressed in battle uniforms and was asked of his plan of attack by his senior officer.  Sir Chuckles was seen to be in this position for 20 minutes...

Sir Chuckles was to meet King Svenn at high noon on main street.  There was two hours until his arrival...

King Svenn decided to get ready and went to see his all powerful advisor for help...

cont'd...

cont'd... page 2

Sir Chuckles boat arrived in the harbor, floating in down lower left...

It seems Sir Chuckles was not on the boat and had fallen overboard into the cold Oslovian fiord where two boys spotted him clutching a styrofoam cooler.  King Svenn enshrined the boys for their astute lookout and spotting of Sir Chuckles...

The civil guard patrol was called out to bring Sir Chuckles to justice...

and he was sentenced to a year of community service planting flowers...

and picking up garbage on Oslovia main streets, like below the walls of the old fort...

when Oslovia was beautiful and clean, there was no more use for Sir Chuckles.  King Svenn turned his fate over to his advisor...

Who in turn "altered" Sir Chuckles...

And placed him in the old playhouse, to rave reviews, reviving the theater attendance in the downtown district once again in Oslovia...

King Svenn and Queen Bente lived happily ever after.

the end

All movement I'm seeing is in the mornings.  With the high temps. afternoons and evenings have been absolutely dead.  With the thick vegitation deer have been right below me before I see them, even when I've heard them moving.

Early season scrape and rub lines are unbelieveably heavy this year and mature buck sighting are way up.  Should make for some interesing buck activity later in the season.

Shoot clean.

And then... The moral of the story is...

Sir Chuckles got so tired and weary of King Svenn's lame architectural tours in Oslo that he decided to go to the one and only Oslo String Club in Norway:
