Does anybody practice meditation?

I have just started meditation this week. And I'm loving it! Smiley I meditate for 15 minutes every day now. Smiley

I was a sceptic and  it took me a long time to give it a go. It's still early days, but so far it has been a postive experience. Smiley I recommend.

I was taught meditation by my therapist who thought I could remain calmer durring a ch if I just relaxed and breathed.  I showed her.  She started crying and said she was sorry she couldn't help me.

I AM a therapist who promotes meditation for my patients, however during an attack, it doesn't do JACK!  Having said that, I do believe meditation is a wonderful way to keep yourself emotionally centered.

Um jonny......how do you become septic ? Anyhow.....cool your a theropist Ross.......exactly HOW does one meditate ? Just wondering cuz I am the type of person that OVERAMPS on things and gets all worked up till I get myself in a real tizzy. I need to cool it......but I don't know how. I guess I spend alot of time with my animals as far as mental peace. I used to trail ride my horse which did alot for me but put him down a few years ago and I really miss that ESCAPE. I just get too wound up now.........mental captive Pam

Mediation is safe enough but if you can do it during an attack, you're dead.

I can completely relate to that Charlie.  There is no hope for calmness during an attack.  I do at least try to use some techniques such as focusing on a positive thought and rechanneling the "thoughts" of the pain, and practicing deep breathing exercizes.  It truly does nothing for the attack, but I think for me it helps keep me from crossing over the line into insanity.  If it does as little as that, it is worth it to me.

Meditation is wonderful. I try to get at least a few minutes in everyday. Very emotionally and spiritually balancing.
I have a mantra during hits...it goes something like this....

Fuck! Fuck! Breathe!! Shit! Shit! Breathe!... and so on.
It helps to try and focus on something else...

I love your mantra, Nani! Grin
I must admit that I mention something about Higher Force in mine... I don't meditate in yoga sence. And I can't imagine that I could meditate during ch, but otherwise, it makes me calmer and more relaxed.  Smiley

Meditation is wonderful. I generally do it for 20-30 minutes each day. During a CH attack, I agree: It's worthless, but: I am able to calm myself quickly, focus on deliberately controlling my breathing, and get all of my muscles to relax so that I'm not adding to the pain or exacerbating it by clenching up and waging war inside of myself while I'm dealing with the pain. It also keeps me more balanced during the pain-free times so that I don't get so depressed. During the night, when I can't sleep, I can go into contemplation so that I am getting some form of rest, even if it's not sleep.
