Any of yous that live within 100 miles of the gulf where Rita looks like she will strike, get the fuck out. Nows not the time to be brave, or a hero, or tough. You'd be a dead hero. Now, get the fuck out of that area, go inland. BMonee

Looks like they're trying to get out but nobody's getting anywhere. CNN is reporting 100 mile traffic jams. To all in the path of Rita, be safe and good luck! Check in when you can. Jim

All lanes are open North now.. traffic should be reduced by morning... As for the size of this storm... its now almost the size of the entire Gulf of Mexico... about 450 miles across and 145mph winds at a catagory 4 storm... I live in Florida and we know the damage a strom this size can do.. Get out of there.. you still have about 24hrs.. gas is being made available to the area, they are even helping people get gas that can not afford it.. thats what they are saying on the TV at the moment.. If you decide to stay you are going to be sorry.. please give someone here you contact information and your next of kin.. just so that we can get you checked on in case you are in need of help after the storm and can not contact anyone... or maybe even stuck or missing from your home... I really wish all would get out of the way of this thing, CH will not kill you, but this thing will.. believe me, we have seen it here to many times... your things & home can be replaced, but your life can not... Praying & Thinking of you all... God Bless Charlie

Would the owner of the propane torch, egg beater, pipe expander and vise grips please claim these items. They're lodged in my head and I need the space. (burnt-toast)

For those getting out, Godspeed! For those who cannot... Some say a hurricane can be caused by the fluttering wings of a butterfly a world away. However, a butterflies wings are much smaller than an angels. Saying a prayer that those wings will redirect the brunt of the wrath of Rita. Peace, Carl D

Charlie is absolutely right. There's not much hope for those in the path. I am sick to my stomach just thinking about our people trying to tough it out. Please, for the love of God......call for help.....get out now. You who are staying have no clue as to what you are in for, or you would be running for your lives. Please post contacts on thread I'm going to start.
