Wifey has a headache that resembles a sinus infection.  What are good meds to get relief from it?
Benadryl?  Excedrin? Ibuprofen?

Thanks, she's got it bad, and you know how much a sinus infection can hurt........prolly up to like a kip 5 or so in CH terms. smug
Thanks

I had one this summer and after having a headache for five days straight I went to the Dr. He gave me a couple of shots in the a$$ and some antibiotics that I took for about a week. I was better the next day, at least the headache was gone, not fun. If she does have a sinus infection I would get in, the sooner the better. I don't know about kip terms, but it was painful.

antibiotics work pretty fast......like amoxicillan.....for a real sinus infection that's about the best start.......otherwise it can get pretty nasty and keep comeing back. Sometimes if bad enuff it will take it's long course of gettin worse before better and then easein up but comein back within about two weeks. I take Clariton (it's over the counter stuff as an antahistamine without drouseyness deal when needed) but doubt that will help the wife. The infection needs to be dealt with before much releif can be sought. I used to get em long time ago and so did my mom. Maybe some of the over the counter stuff like sudafed for nasal congestion will help with SUM of the pressure building up. (Sudafed PE it's called as a nasal decongestant) Benydryl has one too for nasal decongestion I think also. A good antibiotic tho will start to work on it in a day or so but need to continue for the amount of days prescribed to kill all the bacteria causeing it. Just my ideas on it......good luck......I know how miserable that shit is too. Dealt with it for years.....some sort of FAZE I guess. Stuffy but not congested Pam

The shot was prolly a cortizone or cortisteroid it mite be called ? Went that route with my exotic cat that was so congested with the sinus he could NOT breathe and it about killed him. Some animals won't eat if they can't smell food. The shot worked in a matter of an hour but it stopped the body from OVER REACTING to the enviorment.......mite be a good idea to get to the doc. And get some antibiotics too......miserable stuff........

Try sucidfed and ibuprofen together.  If that doesn't offer relief I would go to a dr to rule out a sinus infection in which case you will need antibiotics.  Good luck and hope she is feeling better real soon.

As Karla said, try Sudafed (name brand or generic).  This helps a friend of mine with sinus headaches.  He takes the appropriate dose along with an ibuprophen, and that usually does the trick.  I don't know about where you live, but here in Wisconsin, we now have to get the sudafed from the pharmacist, even though it's over-the-counter.  So you may have to ask for it.  Also, it has stimulative effects, so it's not a good nighttime med.

I got the sudafed PE at Walmart off the shelf........kids use it in there meth labs......anyhow........it mite help some of the pressure but won't do shit for the infection which will last a long time and DO DAMAGE in the long run. Causes scarrin ect in the sinus and then it ends up hyper sensitive cuz of palups that are like haveing a little chunk of dust up her nose PERMANENTLY. I'd take care of it the rite way and try the sudafed or benydryl regular till ya can get in to see a doc. Not even sure that will do much.......advil or pain killer mite work till ya can get to see a doc. I've even been in ER for severe sinus infections.....suddenly developed into a migraine that made me scream and flip all around. Ya don't want that now do ya ? Flip flop wife Pam
