Lyrics for Friday
« on: Sep 16th, 2005, 1:40pm »
Quote Quote Modify Modify Remove Remove

in the dream I fall into the sleepless sea
with a swell of panic and pain
my veins are aching for the distant reef
in the crush of emotional waves...

alright, get a hold of yourself
and don't fight it, it's over your head
it's alright, the rumble in your ears
it's alright to feel a little fear
an' don't fight it, it's over your head
it's alright, you wake up in your bed...

silhouettes like shivering ancient feelings
they cover my foreign floors and walls
submarines are lurking in my foggy ceiling
they keep me sleepless at night...

hey, can you picture the sight
the figures on the beach in the searing night
and the roaring hurt of my silent fight...
can you pull me out
of this sleepless night
can you pull me out?...

Agony and ecstacy
Your cries of pain my pleasure
To know my machine internally
Your torment i treasure

Lifeblood combines with semen
Your screaming my laughter
The compressor is running smoothly
'tis vengeance i am after

Pain

Begging becomes your lovesong
You're dying

I masturbate
For the crime of burning me
I give to thee
Jackhammerape

Hatred obsessing me
Hatred possessing me
Anger burning me
Anger turning me
Into someone i don't know

Rage shaking me
Rage making me
Into someone i don't know
I'll kill you tonight

It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah

Well I heard there was a secret chord
that David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do ya?
Well it goes like this:
The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah

Well your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew ya
And She tied you to her kitchen chair
And She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah

Well Baby I've been here before
I´ve seen this room, and I've walked this floor,
You know, I used to live alone before I knew you
And I've seen your flag on the marble arch
And Love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah

Well there was a time when you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show that to me do ya
But remember when I moved in you
And the holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah

Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah

Maybe there is a God above
But all I've ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at somebody who outdrew ya
And it's not a cry that you can hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah
Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah

This was originally a Leonard Cohen song that Jeff Buckley rewrote for the only album he would live to complete - Grace.
I wish I could find a link to post to an audiofile of this song. It is a very moving and emotional performance.

FYI - Jeff Buckley was the son of folk singer Tim Buckley, who was working on his second album when he went for a midnight swim and never came back. Most of Chris Cornell's solo disc "Euphoria Morning" is dedicated to Jeff, much like Temple of The Dog was a tribute to Andrew Wood of Mother Love Bone - who later evolved into Pearl Jam with Eddie Vedder replacing Andrew Wood. The reason the Pearl Jam Ten disc kicked so much ass is that much of the music was the workings for the 2nd MLB disc.

Don't get me started talking music. We'll be here for a decade at least.

Peace,
Carl D

Have to admit Carl that I've only got the Leonard Cohen version but it's a great song and thanks for posting the lyrics! Is Leonard still alive? He must be getting past the veteran stage now.

He sure is. Just released a new album last year. If you like Leonard - have you ever heard Bruce Cockburn's stuff? Another brilliant artist who is kind of a best kept secret.

Peace,

The lunatic is on the grass. The lunatic is on the
grass.Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs.Got to keep
the loonies on the path.
The lunatic is in the hall. The lunatics are in my hall. The paper
holds their folded faces to the floorAnd every day the paper boy
brings more.
And if the dam breaks open many years too soonAnd if there is no
room upon the hillAnd if your head explodes with dark
forebodings tooI'll see you on the dark side of the moon.
The lunatic is in my head. The lunatic is in my headYou raise the
blade, you make the changeYou re-arrange me 'til I'm sane. You
lock the doorAnd throw away the keyThere's someone in my head
but it's not me.
And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your earYou shout and no one
seems to hear. And if the band you're in starts playing different
tunesI'll see you on the dark side of the moon.
"I can't think of anything to say except...I think it's
marvelous! HaHaHa!"
