Brad is takeing his family south to southern NC next weekend for there annual beach trip (Hunting Island).....his mom is handicap'd so he has quite a job with her and all her and his sisters STUFF that also goes and cares for his mom. Anyone know if gas is ok takeing that route south from Ohio ? He'd heard from a truck driver that some states had none and were closed esp SC and some of NC ??? I told Brad I'd ask the gang......he can't aford to get part way down there and stranded esp with his mom. Nor can he afford to be there at the cabin and no gas to get out esp if that other hurricane Nate was to come ashore his way......esp with that big gas hog truck too. (I'm a little worried bout that next hurricane but known them they will go anyhow) I'll give him all yer advice.......thanks.......(he says THANKS in advance) not a mapquester Pam

I don't go....I enjoy a quiet week at home and no routine....locked in a small cabin with inlaws would be too much like hell to me.

I'd rather be on Bourbon Street.

Yep, a small cabin and relatives present can make anyone go nuts. Enjoy your time, Pam... Smiley

Cootie,

Looking at things from Charlotte, NC to Columbia, SC things have settled down a bit since last week. Somehow a scare got started and we all got into a lather, creating some gas lines and some stations did run out. It does appear that there should be a continued supply problem in these parts but all it seems to mean is, 1.) higher prices than hawaii, 2.) some stations are out some days but then get some the next.

I'd recommend that he not wait till the truck's running on vapors to get gas. If it means pulling in for a sure thing at 1/4 or 1/3 tank or sweating it at the end, it's not worth the stress. (Tough thing for me to admit).

I've got a neighbor who drove back from the beach last week and didn't have any real problems.

Tell'm to have a great trip and to watch that weather -- they just announced TD-16 is going to go to TS status possibly later today near the Bahamas. September is prime-hurricane season for the Atlantic coast.

Thanks for the info.......I really think he needs to know the do's and don't before this vacation considering all that has happen'd and what mite happen with this new storm also 'esp' if there was a chance stations would be out when he needed to LEAVE the cabin in a hurry. I think there a good hour from a town out there.

Yeah crowded in that extended cab truck with his older sis and grumpy nosey (but wonderful from afar) mom would do me in rite off the starters for a long trip. His maw gets the front seat and seat set back.....his extended cab hasn't that much room and even 'I' have to sit sideways in back. But with someone next to ya and all that CRAP they take and fill up the cab and cab till stuff about busts thru the sides....no way ! And they don't like to make alot of stops.......number one no no for bad twisting breaking in half backs......sittin bunched up for hours and comeing up with small talk tryin not to sound like a fool also is a big no no for me.....and then tryin to drag his mom out of the truck (god bless her soal) and stuff her back in that high truck and wheel her all around all crabby and grumpy....then sleep on the floor one nite, cot or couch anouther in that cabin with doors and windows SHUT for the air conditioner is anouther evil. All they do is fish (I hate seafood and it is all they eat is fishy stuff).....so they are actually all better off I am NOT going. They should consider themselves lucky !!! Family vaction exercism Pam

Brad has a good time.....and that is what counts !! But the stress of gettin ready and there stuff all packed and them down there and settled in about kills him. I dunno how he does it. Other family will show up there later to also stay. Me stay home.............simple pleasures ! Everyone has there own hells and highs.
