I never read the damn newspaper. Its to depressing. Today Buddy brings it home so I can read about the storm. I read about a little boy that use to live down the street from us when we lived on Brian Ln. His Step Mother stomped him to death. She said she fell on him and it was a accident. Today she told the truth. She stomped him to death. Why my God why. It happen three years ago. It broke my heart then. This liitle boy Joey was the cutiest little boy. He was very bright. I just find it hard when people hurt children. I wish I had never picked the paper up. I am glad she told the truth. 20 years for what she did seems like so little to me.

I know we see alot of Bizzare stuff here in Florida, I am sure every elsewhere too...
But you got to look for the good people in this world, who never get credit..... Its basically a Media Thing, they live on all the Horrible Stuff going on in the World, makes me wonder how many papers they would sell if they reported on Positive Things ???

I've ranted about this in the past but it bares repeating.
For all the things we need licences for, from hunting, fishing, our cats and dogs, our bikes and boats and cars and drivers, to be a lawyer, Doctor, electrician, or plummer, but no need to have any training whatsoever to be a parent. The MOST important job in the world!

I know in the prison social circle the rules are no kids, I'm sure they still apply to a female institution as well.

I get so upset listening to the news that after a while I just don't watch or read it.when something comes up then I start watching again.I truely hope they put her in general population and not solitary confinement.there are alot of women (mothers )in prison that hate people who hurt children she will live every day of that twenty years being duely punished by these women.thats if they let her live that long.people who hurt children have a big bullseye on them .....

Elaine: Be glad you read it in the paper rather than on cable news. I like the paper for these kinds of stories.
As for this waste of carbon: I like one person's alternative to the death penalty: Kept separate, forced to watch or hear of the crime every day and a weekly beating from a family member, just bad enough to require some incompetent attention.

Very sad story......There was a case around here where a huge dumpy way too heavy chick accidentally rolled off a chair and landed on her baby but was too obese to help herself and get herself up in time. That totally disgusted me.....sum people should not be allowed to multiply Pam

This shit just breaks my heart... In Nashville, about six years ago, some woman's boyfriend put her two-year old daughter in the bathtub and then turned the hot water full-blast on her, and then left her lying in the tub, where she died two days later.
At the time, my own daughter was two years old. I read that story and just cried... (and hugged my daughter a lot...)

The other day I listened to a report about a guy going to trial for shooting and killing his second person in less than 5 years who had a rap sheet that was a laundry list of violent crimes.
When the reporter asked how this could possibly be, the response was that the average prison time served for rape (against children and women) is less than 2 years and for murder less than 7 years.
What's wrong with people? What's wrong with a criminal justice system that has become a joke?
Who's rights are more important and protected - the criminal or the honest taxpaying citizens that are victims of crimes committed by repeat offenders who realize the courts and prison system will treat them like short-term hotel visitors? Regardless of their crimes?

As most of you know, I used to be a semi-professional clown. One of the things that I did, and loved doing, was visiting the children in the hospitals. Until ONE day ... ONE child ...
I was visiting the children in the burns hospital. Most of them were in the day room. As I was going from child to child, I was about to go to the next child, when a nurse pulled me aside and told me not to expect much of a welcome from the next boy. He was afraid of most men. Why? Because his mother and father were divorced (or separated, I don’t remember which), and going through a nasty custody battle. The father took the boy, went to a motel room, and then doused him with gasoline, and set him on fire. The father’s comment was, “If I can’t get him, NO ONE will get him.” The little boy survived.
What was the father’s punishment? A slap on the wrist. I think he got a whole 6 months in jail. (No abbreviations here: ) WHAT THE FUCK ?? ?? ??

Footnote to the story: For some reason, that darling boy latched onto me. He did not want me to leave. Several times I had to. After all, clowns are not suppose to cry. This tyke REALLY got to me. Even as I type this, I have tears in my eyes. As hard as it was, I always made sure I went to visit him VERY regularly. Many times I went to visit just him. I always ended up bawling and totally ruining my makeup. But damnit, I did it anyway. He deserved that.

I was abused by several doctors when I was 10 years old and I have made a vow to completely destroy anyone who ever lays a hand on my child.
Child abuse should always be punishable by the death penalty.

These stories are always horrible to hear about. I work with kids and nothing breaks my heart more than a child who is abused in any way. My knee jerk instinct is to want to do some very serious harm to the abuser.
But, when I really stop to think about it, I have to remind myself that abuse is cyclical. No normal, well adjusted adult would abuse a child. The people who abuse children were children once, too. And odds are almost 100% of them were abused in their childhoods.
There are many (like myself) who recognize that the harm that was done to me as a child could make me a child abuser. You begin to think it's "normal" to get the crap beaten out of you. Or to get called horrible names. My mom used to burn our hands on the gas burner of the stove if we touched something we shouldn't. WTF? Long ago, thankfully before I abused any of my kids, I realized that I could stop the cycle of abuse with me.
I also used to work with child abusers, who really had NO IDEA that you could raise children without hitting them. It's all about learning new skills.
Makes me want to cry.

Yep guys I am in morbid mode today.
Today would be a bad day for me to see anyone hurting a child cause I would be in prison tomorrow.
Sorry guys but some things push me way over the edge and this is The big one.
I have 2 sons that just the thought of them being hurt like that sickens me and enrages me to a point of sheer unadulterated blood lust. I better stop before I go to far and there is alot more worse things and places I could go with this.

Nani Mom you are sooooo correct. I too was severly abused and will never allow it to happen around me ever again. Now there are occasions where punishment is a good thing but spanking and beating are 2 totally different things.

Yup, Mike. An occasional swat on the rear to get a kid's attention is one thing, beating them with a belt is another. We tend to confuse discipline with punishment. Discipline is about learning to control your own impulses. Our job is to "teach" kids to do that, not force them with threats of violence. I'm still working on that with my own impulses, LOL, so teaching my kids presents an accasional challenge.
