I was in the hospital

Well folks. This episode was really bad. This is the first time in history I suffered in the summer. This summer was bad for a lot of folk my neuro told me as the weather was unusually hot and humid with a lot of barometric pressure changes (my trigger). Three weeks ago I got pain in my right eye (I have never suffered on my right side before) along with continuous nausea and some headaches but mostly shadows and feeling very crappy. They put me on oral prednisone for a week and gravel which did nothing. After the course of prednisone I was in ER four times in one week with complicated migraines which I also suffer which for me is sometimes worse than the ch along with the eye problem and nausea. WEll they sent me home on the weekend after treatment again with IV meds and I thought I was gonna die. I had a hemiplegic migraine which means I was paralyzed on my right side for six hours in the ER sigh.... Well over the weekend I was so sick that I could not raise my head, I could not hardly walk etc. My daughter got me a sitter can you imagine. I lost my independence. On Monday I called the neuro and told him what was going on and he admitted me . I spent five days in the hospital with round the clock IV meds for migraines plus Decadron and then they tapered me off. The neuro said the eye problem was definitely a complication from the migraines and/or CH. I went home on last Friday doing much better albeit wired from the steroids. I am off of work this week recuperating. I feel much much better almost 100%. I am praising God. I felt like I would never be normal again. I never had it so bad like that before. I am on prophalaxis for migraines (Sebeillium) plus got approved for oxygen set up from my insurance, plus my prn meds for pain. Please God let me get a few months rest from this. I look forward to going back to the gym this week. I have been doing a lot of walking. My daughter had someone come clean the house for me. So friends I am back on the boards and wish to thank all of you for your support and prayers and advice. Y'all are the best. I am on the mend..........

Hi Ricky... Wow...you sure have been through the ringer lady... Glad you're back and here's hoping you don't have a need to visit the hospital for a very long time to come. Wishing you permanent PF time... Hugs, Langa

Thanks family NOne of y'all are wimps. Anyone who can even withstand a shadow knows some shit. That is why this site is a Godsend. We all have been there and really understand what each one of us are going through. You know when you lose even the simplest of independence it forces you to think things out. And I had two weeks to draw closer to God and rethink again in my life as to what is really important to me. I had a chance to let go of when I was homeless and my "losses" and forgiveness of certain human beings (meaning letting go) who were toxic to me. Just a lot of personal stuff too long to go into but again to deepen my faith in God and reset my path in life.

Welcome back, Ricky. Glad to hear that you're on the mend. I agree with Don: Maybe give it a little time before going full-blast at the gym again... Glad to hear that you're feeling better.

Sorry to hear of your hospital stay...but glad that your cycle seems to have ceased. One of the worst cycles I ever had...I had just gotten a new neuro, who put me into Thomas Jefferson Hospital. Worst week of my life...They must've given me every med in the book that has "Drive you Crazy" as the #1 side effect...cause at the end of that week I felt like I needed to be in an asylum and I still had the damn cycle. Bad times, good lord those were bad times.

| Now you - we've talked about this before - don't go scaring everyone off, now! I've spent about 15 or so weeks of my life staring at the walls of that place (or in some instances, having no clue what was going on - but...yeah...I don't feel like tripping down that memory lane at the moment.) OK I promise not to share my hospital stories now - what happened to me is somewhat abbynormal, anyways....which seems appropriate for someone like me! Ricky - glad you got some help and I hope you stay pain free for a long time! I agree with others to take it slow after getting out. One of the problems I always had was plunging back into life and work within a day or two of being discharged - which was never a good idea! So be sure to take it easy! Hugz, Carrie

| LOL...To be fair...I have been to Jefferson before & it's a great Hospital. In fact even during the "VISIT FROM HELL"...I had a great E.R. nurse who couldn't do enough for me... I'm not exactly the pleasant patient, either. My thinking is ..."If I'm not dying, then I don't need to be in a Hospital" and if I have to stay in one, everyone else is going to be miserable to. If I can help it, anyway. Jim
