I am now convinced that a soom lens is a need and not a want  . It's crop dusting season here and although I got some decent shots and played with the pics, a zoom lens would have made a whole lot of difference.

I didn't notice my typo until I read your post  . I think I meant *zoom* not *soom*. When and if I get my ham radio rig sold, I will be buying a few more toys for my camera (like a flash).

I have a Canon EOS Digital Rebel 300D. The lens that I looked at was $250.00, so the price isn't bad.
I don't know the model number of the lens, but I think it's either a 70-200 or 70-300 (has to be autofocus).
