So, it's been known to happen....

I've been wrong a few times in my life, but yeah the beast has started rearing his ugly head. I thought that it was a different type of headache, but it has started transforming into the same SOB that he did last year. I've been stabbing myself in the arm constantly, which I know isn't good for me. So, if anyone knows of any good neuros in the St. Louis area, please let me know. I'm trying to keep upbeat, but it's getting kinda tough. And my boyfriend just isn't that caring. Well, he's caring, but I don't think that he knows how to handle it. That bothers me somewhat, but oh well. Anyhow, I know that all of you deal with the same shit that I do, so I'm sorry for rambling. Take care!

I've tried getting him on here, but he doesn't really seem too interested. And that alone makes me a little upset.

I'm gonna have an in depth conversation with him about it tomorrow. And if nothing changes, then something will have to change. If that makes sense.

Kimmie. I'm in the area, and neuro after neuro, the one I finally ended up with is at Washington University Neuroscience Center. He knows CH pretty well. Richard Sohn 4921 Parkview St Louis, MO 63110 (314) 362 - 7240 Peace, Carl D

I'm gonna call a neuro tomorrow and I'm wondering if Craniosacral work would help with the clusters. Craniosacral work is a form of massage, in case any of you weren't sure.

When I was episodic, I had cranio sacral massage done several times (out of cycle) and I enjoyed it very much. Frankly, it sounds a little scary for me to consider in cycle. I'm not sure why, kd, but the thought of adjusting the cranial fluid just kinda makes me cringe. I have no real basis for that opinion...just a "feeling". Have you read about kudzu, sweetie. Here's a link (read all the links in it, too) http://www.clusterheadaches.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=meds;action= display;num=1110584362 pf wishes, nani

Well Nani, I don't think that that would work for me, I'm on Inderal and Verapamil and the only thing that works for me is Imitrex injections. So, I'm not sure that this Kudzu thing would work. Who knows...

Damn Kim, I knew it! You're a pro and know the drill. I'd gladly take them from you as I would anyone here. Regarding your boyfriend........That's BS!!!!! He needs an education in not only your condition which you will most likely have forever but how to truly love! My 2cents Hugs, Eric

| Ask him if he would want someone to understand his pain if he was getting kicked in the balls nonstop for an hour at a time. Maybe THEN he'll get it. Check your PMs. Carl

PROPRANOLOL HYDROCHLORIDE (in Inderal) may interact with VERAPAMIL Both verapamil and propranolol have the ability to decrease blood pressure and slow the heart rate. When taken together, these effects can be even greater. If you are taking these two drugs together, your doctor may want to closely monitor your blood pressure and heart rate. If you are experiencing problems, it may be necessary to adjust the dose of either medication. Ask your healthcare provider about these drugs and this potential interaction as soon as possible. This interaction is well-documented and is considered major in severity.

I know that they tell you that you can only have 3 Imitrex injections per week. What happens if you go over that?

| Please.... you can go over that per day. Be careful and know your body!! I'd be more concerned with being on a beta blocker and a calcium channel blocker together.

Taking Verapamil and Inderal (Propranolol) together is not a very good idea. From http://www.drugs.com/drug_interactions.html: propranolol and verapamil (major Drug-Drug interaction) Description: MONITOR CLOSELY: Additive reductions in heart rate, cardiac conduction, and cardiac contractility may occur when calcium channel blockers, especially verapamil and diltiazem, are used concomitantly with beta blockers. While this combination may be useful and effective in some situations, potentially serious cardiovascular adverse effects such as congestive heart failure, severe hypotension, and/or exacerbation of angina may occur. Ventricular asystole, sinus arrest, and heart block have also been reported. The risk is increased with high dosages, IV administration, left ventricular dysfunction, or AV conduction abnormalities. Beta blocker ophthalmic solutions may also interact, as they are systemically absorbed and can produce clinically significant systemic effects even at low or undetectable plasma levels. Bradycardia (36 bpm) with wandering atrial pacemaker occurred in a patient taking oral verapamil and timolol ophthalmic drops. The proposed mechanisms include additive slowing in AV conduction, reduced cardiac contractility secondary to beta-blockade, and decreased peripheral vascular resistance secondary to calcium channel blockade. Verapamil and diltiazem may also decrease the clearance of some beta blockers. That's something a good doctor should know. BTW, Propranolol does hardly anything against CH, so if you don't need it for another condition,..... Be careful! PFNADs, Ueli

I use the Inderal for migraines. I could definitely go off of Inderal and just up the does of the Verapamil....it's a lot cheaper, but I'll wait and see what the new neuro says......whenever I find one.
