http://www.peteducation.com/article_print.cfm?cls=2&articleid=1030 I am compiling my recipies to e-mail, to those that requested them, right now. I'll probably get them out in the mail tomorrow morning. One bit of advice right now.....if your dog is overweight, substitute 1/2 of his/her food with green beans for a few days.

My dog LOVES green beans. They are his favorite. He will eat apples, pears, bananas, etc. Get the catch: He will only eat them if I take the bite and then feed it to him. If any other family member tries this he spits it out and won't eat it. Guess I am special. Also If your dog gets over weight and wont' lose get them tested for a thoroid disorder. My dog needs medicine daily for it. He has lost 25 pounds now. The test was 65 but well spent.

Gucci likes to eat GI Joes - his crate looks like Jeffrey Dahmer's apartment... a leg here, a hand there - even found a decapitated body in there once. Sad really.... Kisses! Karen

Oooh my brother gave our dog beer once - my mom and I almost killed my brother for that! The list doesn't mention ibuprofin - however that's one to avoid in the dogs in most cases!! Ibuprofin + dog = kidney failure, digestive problems, etc.... I don't really know all the info on this, but one of our nursing instructors told us a story about how she gave her dog ibuprofin for arthritis and then flipped because she thought his stomach was going to blow up or some such thing. All I really remember about that story is to not give a dog ibuprofin and that her dog did live. My dog had to take one of those joint formulas once - glucosamine and chondroitin - the vet had really specific instructions for how much to give him and for how long. He did eat 3/4 of a chocolate cake cooling on the counter once when he was still a puppy.......he survived that one without even getting sick at all. The dog can't eat anything but dog food without throwing it back up - yet he can eat 3/4 of a chocolate cake without batting an eyelash. LOL

To make a life long friend out of my little Rudy (a mini pin who hates everyone but me) just feed him broccoli (weird dog - definitely a democrat!!!). The tobacco thing I'd argue with -- grandmaw's old remedy for wormer, aid against distempter and whatever else ails them. Have been doing it for years and my dogs have always been healthy. One thing -- this time of year -- if you have puppies -- and if they're too young for parvo shots (or even for a few weeks after they've had the shots)-- spray your yard with bleach. It helps. Take care of the little ones -- and they'll take care of you... Hugs BD

My dog will eat anything he can get. Everything on that list is fair game to him, except grapes. He will spend hours licking the grape rolling the it around around on the floor until it finally breaks open, but he absolutely will not eat it Sandy

| My dog eats grapes...he used to act the same way as you are describing that your dog does, but now he just eats them. He's lazier these days. Also - my mom has trained him so much by a certain habit that now every single time I get popcorn out and put it in the microwave, at the first pop he will NOT leave me alone! He goes insane. Last time, I gave him a bit of it and he accidentally bit my hand out of excitement. Now this dog would never do that - I can put my arm in his mouth and he won't bite down at all. He just loves his popcorn. LOL

Chloe will eat anything. She is most fond of veggies tho. LOVES green beans and carrots. I don't really feed her anything else, maybe some chicken here and there but thats about it. What kind of dog food do you guys use? Chloe eats Nutromax for small dogs. She seems to like it, I had to go through a few of them before finding one she really liked. I hear that Wysong is one of the best brands. Expensive, but the best.

I thought no one would ever ask, so here it is: The reason I started making all of my Beagle Polly's food is because I read a knowlegable article about the ingredients in ALL dog foods. You will note that all packaging says " not safe for human consumption" and that is partly because the meat (in any form ie:meal or whatever) can be of rotting flesh. Gross? Also, what gets dropped on the floor is swept up along with the rat droppings or whatever else is on the floor and behind the machinery. This is just starters. Grapes and fruit pits can and usually do eventually cause kidney failure. My sis had a part Pit that died a young death and she loved (and ate a lot of) grapes. Just to show you a simple dish for your dog: 1 lb. ground beef--in small pieces and well browned in a frying pan......drain the grease. l small can peas and carrots 3 cups cooked brown rice or barley..not the instant kind (they need lots of fiber for their ease of elimination) One 8 or 10 oz. can chicken broth Mix and feed Feeds my Beagle one shy cup in the am and one in the pm, along with a doggie vitamin. Adult vitamins (and cherios, among other toasted oat cerials) contain a very toxic amount of Iron, so read labels. Bush's baked beans under the Showboat label do not contain onions and dogs love them. I mix them sometimes in the above recipe too. Makes a couple of days food...depends on how large the dog is. Polly weighs 27 lbs and is a few lbs. overweight. Potato pealings are bad for them, but mashed potatoes are great. They also love sweet potatoes. It isn't necessary to add salt to their foods.

That list must be for one of those little fru-fru hairless dogs with their sensitive tummies and all. I didn't even think labs had a digestive system, let alone an endocrine system to screw up. She loves to eat everything but celery and then loves to wag her tail and get belly rubs -- no matter what she's eaten. Life is simple for her as his her health regimen. My lab would stop talking to me however if I posted that list o the fridge - let alone if I started to follow it to the line. scott

I used to have a dog that loved McDonalds cheeseburgers. He would eat the bun, lettus, tomato, pickels, then lick the cheese of the patty and walk away. I dont eat @ mcDonalds anymore, if a dog wont eat their meat why should I........

| My lab Tasha is pretty much the same way. I can't think of anything she won't eat...even unusual stuff like fresh cranberries, an occasional coffee bean dropped on the floor, and even will manage a slice of fresh lemon. If she thinks that I want it, she wants it.
