So - I need some ideas.... What do you think is the best way to introduce my neighbors to the fact that I am a classical pianist who also plays the flute, clarinet, and sings opera/broadway/pop music??? Yeah...I have hardwood floors too! However, I live on the first floor of the building - and I can't say I'd feel toooooooo badly - whenever someone goes in and out of the front or back doors, the door slams shut so loudly that I practically jump out of my skin. It's happened at least 100 times today alone!! Hmmmm.......Andrew Lloyd Weber or Chopin? Either one could potentially be an interesting 'introduction' to the new neighbors. Carrie

Well I don't have the music for Great Balls of Fire... Will Linus and Lucy work? That one I can play.... There's some Charlie Brown special where Schroeder plays the 2nd movement of the Beethoven Sonate that I played on my recital in May 2004. I was so excited the first time I ever heard that!! haha

So Frank's the first here (I think) to hear my piano/vocal skills! We were chatting on the phone today and I put the phone on speaker so he could hear my rendition of "Past the Point of No Return" from Phantom, 2 songs from "Aida" (The Past is Another Land and I Know the Truth)...and then he heard snippets of Bach, Beethoven, and Saint-Saens. He also got some piano suggestions over the phone for practicing the songs he wants to learn. Mostly I think I talked his ear off - having 2 very hyper people on the phone at the same time sure is fun! LOL Frank - you have to give your music critic's review now. I would have kept playing piano, but my mom came over with her 2 best friends to help plan all the rearranging of my apartment! Holy kerap I have a lot of work to do - first step is to learn how to stop being a slob with all the clutter. But I can't help it - a cluttered place is indicative of a cluttered mind - which is definitely me! So I'm going to try to keep it neat! I took a bunch of pics - will post them tomorrow maybe. Well...workin tomorrow and the next day and the weekend..........can't wait till next week and some time to maybe sleep a little! If I ever get a mini-disc recorder, I'll get some of my piano vocals recorded so people can hear - the only electronic recordings I have right now are my cds from my 2 piano recitals while at Penn State - oh and Fubar (Shawn) has a disk to go in the disklavier that allows him to 'see' my playing - that was pretty fun to make. It's like an electronic player piano - except instead of music roles, it plays off of what I record on the disk.....all my mistakes too, though!!!

| I've never heard anyone play and sing like you, Carrie. Your voice, your playing... Phenomenal!! I would give anything to be able to play like that. In fact, after listening to you sing, "Past The Point Of No Return," I spent yesterday evening playing from my "Phantom Of The Opera" book, and I'm taking it to my piano lesson this evening. *BEAMING!* Quote:If I ever get a mini-disc recorder, I'll get some of my piano vocals recorded so people can hear - the only electronic recordings I have right now are my cds from my 2 piano recitals while at Penn State - oh and Fubar (Shawn) has a disk to go in the disklavier that allows him to 'see' my playing - that was pretty fun to make. Thanks Frank! Next time I expect to hear YOU play over the phone.....especially now that you're all back into practicing again! Singing things like Past the Point of No Return...really really really makes me miss my days of music theatre, and what I could have done, had I ever taken dance lessons as a child. My mom had taken ballet and piano lessons as a child, but she didn't like ballet in particular - so she never had me start it. We know now that I would have loved it! Can't sing today because I sound like a frog. Woke up this morning with a fever and my lungs full of junk....so I had to call out of work and cancel one of my doc appts this afternoon. I'm going to drink lots of tea and at least heal the vocal cords haha Thanks again for listening!! Carrie

Well, unless your neighbors are blind, they should have seen the piano movers. Start playing everything by Chopin in a minor key... "Tristesse", #1 in B flat minor, Op.9, #.1, A minor, Op 34 # 2, you get the idea Once you realize that their depression level has gone up, cheer them up with some Great Balls of Fire... works everytime.

| LOL Nocturn Op.9 No.1 in B-flat minor? Is that it? I played that my freshman year of college - I LOVE that piece!!! My grandma's favourite piece that I've ever played is the other one in that set - the famous E-flat major. I know there probably isn't a person here who hasn't heard it - but I can't really describe it out in words, and I don't know how to find a sample link of it! We didn't have a piano mover - unless that's my dad's new job. LOL The clavinova comes apart so that him and my mom brought in the top (which is the entire piano keyboard, etc) and then the bottom which has the pedals, etc - so then he put it back together and stood it up against the wall. Nobody said anything when I played piano yesterday, though!
