Guess what I was prescribed !!

A prednisone taper pack! AND not by any of my neuros, either. You want to know who prescribed it? My PODIATRIST!! And not for my head, but the other end of my sexy bod, my FEET !! !! !! Let me backup and explain. About three weeks ago, while staying at a motel, (as I was working out of state) a red blotch started on each foot, around my middle toe. It progressed and expanded, but it was NOT itchy. It got raw, and then my feet started to swell. They blew up to about the size of a softball. I went to the doctor’s office, and they thought it was just an aggressive form of athlete’s feet, with a bacterial infection on top of it. They prescribed an antibiotic, and told me to continue with the OTC athlete’s feet medication, and stay off my feet for a week, and elevated. Well, the swelling slowly went down (but due to the brat’s medical problems, I did not stay off my feet too much). But the raw, painful rash was not getting any better. I tried home remedies, too. Soaking in a bleach solution, and remember the urine thread over in medical? Well I tried soaking in urine, too. Nothing was working. I even went to a dermatologist, and he could not cure it. So, I went to a podiatrist, a foot doctor. He looked at it and said it is NOT athlete’s feet. It is a violent chemical reaction. It is too symmetrical, from foot to foot, and has not spread, or tapered off at the edges, as athlete’s foot would. We could not figure out what caused it though. But he prescribed the prednisone taper and benedril to clear it up. He started to go into detail about how to take the meds. I laughed, and told him I was VERY experienced, and had taken them several times before. I then gave him a short course on cluster headaches. Well, as usual, the prednisone taper did nothing for my headaches. BUT, guess what? It is WORKING for my feet!! Haha!! I just though it was a hoot to find another use for a drug we are all so familiar with. Chuck

Isn't that pred something else? hehe I have given it to neonates to help with lung development in prematurity. That's kinda neat! Hope the feet are all healed up soon! Only one problem allowed at a time, right????? Take care! Carrie
