update on my visit to neuro and er

WEll I made it to the neuro yesterday and he was right on top of things. He arranged for me to go back to ER and be seen right away for O2, more IV meds including DHE. Then he gave me scrips for prednisone one week, Imitrex injections, and set up for O2 at home. I went to the ER got my tx felt better and went home. They were concerned with me because this is the first time in 21 years of this that it went to my right side particularly in the eye. They were concerned about temporal arteritis which could cause blindness in the eye and they did a test for inflammation. The numbers were up but not to the point of panic or suspicion for this condition thank God. That means there is definite inflammation which could be caused by the CH. I go back in a week unless I get worse. I had a mild k3-4 hit last nite took a Fiorinol and ice and was able to go back to bed with a rather fitful sleep. I am going for Melatonin today. Question Do I start with the 9 mg right away or could I try 6 mg. I do not want to feel foggy in the AM. I do feel much better this am although my eyes are burning but better and no malaise or nausea. I have a slight shadow starting so I will take an Aleve as suggested to me on my other thread. My Imitrex comes in a pen style. I am in Canada. They are vials of 6 mg each. Two vials cost 84.75 Thank God for insurance. Can I dose myself with half? And can it be done with the pen style? Of course this if or big hits the big gun. I will go tomorrown for my O2 set up with my wonderful paper from this site. If they are not too knowledgeable (sp) can't spell this am, I will be asking questions or maybe someone can give me the links on the imitrex trick and o2 tips. STep by step for nimrods like me please... A lot of people were in ER with various headaches. The weather is a big factor this year as we are having an usually hot and humid summer and moreover the barometer goes up and down which is my biggest trigger. And LIonsound I too suffer the combo of complicated migraines as well as episodic CH. I don't have Ouch under my name for nothing sigh.....I hear you brother. Frank Tell Mari thanks for letting me call you and putting up with that shit.... PPS Y'ALL ARE THE BEST!!!!!!

| Not a problem. Glad to help in any way that we can, even if it's just offering support and a listening ear. Glad to hear that you're getting some help. There are some Imitrex veterans here, who can help you with figuring out how to meter out your doses. Maybe ask on the meds-specific board? Good luck, my friend.

Glad you got some help Ricky, I think you'll be pleased with the O2 and imitrex. Try the melatonin at 6 mg first, then up it to 9 if it doesn't seem to help, just don't go over board with it, as high doses will cause more problems than it solves. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Chuckie. I faxed my scrip and info to the company that supplies here. I printed out your link. Great pts. This is so helpful and it helped with my hit in ER. I am hopeful and optimistic. And this is partly and a great part to folks like you on this site who really understand and have knowledge to boot. They don't call these suicide headaches for nothing. I prayed to God and he sent me to this site....
